Has the mountain come to me after all?
Don’t smile, don’t show any gloating, Laney, or he might leave.
Inside, I’m beaming like a lunatic as he pads over to the bed in just his tight black boxer briefs and climbs in. Giving me his back, crushing the pillow under his head. “Light off, Laney.”
I switch it off, goggling at the stretch of his bare back in front of me and that tight…god, so tight ass.
After a minute of me sitting there like a stunned rabbit, that he’s not only let himself into my house, but climbed into my bed with barely a word.
“Big spoon, Laney.” Is his next command and all my happy tears rise to the surface of my eyeballs.
Big spoon. The immovable mountain really has come to me.
Whether because it’s my first night in a new place, or because he needs to be near me too, I don’t need to know the answers. I shuffle right across my bed and curl up to his back. My arms sliding around his waist, my knees nestle into the back of his and I nuzzle my face along his spine, smelling him.
My boy’s skin has a smell that I’m intoxicated by.
We’ve slept like this many times, mostly he big spoons me, but I love when I get to be big spoon. Holding my big, criminal boy as close as I can.
Tears prick the back of my eyelids. I never thought we’d be here again.
Not in a month of Thursdays and Fridays. I hoped and prayed but I figured maybe Lachlan only wanted to be friends.
“How did you get in?”
“Took one of your spare keys.”
Just like that.
No guilty voice.
Bad boy.
I grin, kissing his back, giving him a little pleased squeeze around his hard chest.
I revisit that friend theory the next morning when I wake, and Lachlan is nowhere to be found in my house.
I don’t give up hope and I don’t stop fighting for him.
Laney:I want to cook you dinner tonight.
Lachlan:What you feeding me?
Laney:Me.
Laney:Well that got crickets. Fine, I’ll make manicotti and garlic bread. That guarantees I won’t kiss you.
Lachlan:Baby, when I eat you, you’ll know about it.
Laney:You want to eat me, Lachie? Slurp me right up?
Laney:Okay, I’m stopping now. Dinner is at 7 but come any time. I love you.
Lachlan:Hard again. Do you want to go through the list of things I can’t use to take care of it?
Laney:I will hurt you, Lachie. I will make you bleed from orifices that have never bled before if you use anything/anyone other than your strong right hand or me to get you off.
Laney:I will take nine years of Jiu Jitsu just so I can rip your head off.
