That is if I have a career to go back to.
I can’t, in all good conscience see Greg Kingston keeping me on at his affluent school even under a rumor of having an affair with a student.
It will ruin me.
It will ruin any future Lachlan has.
Washed, dressed, panic under control, I walk back through to the kitchen to see Lachie, still in his underwear cleaning my countertops and loading the dishwasher.
My heart instantly wrenches for his sweetness.
Not even two steps into the room he rounds behind me, grabbing my waist and he buries his face in my neck before turning me in his arms.
His smug voice falls to a low, hot timber, and he draws his nose along the side of mine. “You’re sexy when you’re in a snit.”
“I’m not in a snit.” I point out. “I’ve never had a snit in my whole life. In fact, I wouldn’t know how to snit.”
Lachlan chuckles, holding me close enough I feel how aroused his is just from having me near. “Sexy snit, mouse.”
I huff, trying to dislodge his hands on me and it’s futile but at least he’s put a smile back on my face.
He always makes me smile and feel good.
I rest my cheek to his chest, listening to the steady drum of the heart I adore.
“Want to fuck the snit out of you.”
I raise my eyebrow sardonically and show how not shocked I am by his claim. “You’re a teenage boy, you want to fuck only every minute of the day.”
“True,” he half-smirks his dirty boy grin. “Still want to fuck you.”
I’m not in a snit. But I am panicked to hell.
So I let him take me on the living room couch until he brings me to a crying climax, taking my mind off this new problem for a while.
Lachlan is good at that too, diverting my mind.
But all problems come home to roost eventually.

Delaney
I signed up for three summer classes before I’d started my job.
Stupidly, I didn’t know the torrid affair I’d be embroiled in when I did, or I might have rethought earning the extra cash.
Needing the time to think before class, I head to a café.
The email taunting me from my phone and the more I read it, the more overwhelmed I become.
Should I go to the police? It’s a legitimate threat. No, I can’t do that.
The idea that I’ll admit to my affair is nauseating.
Cali and Priya both agree to ignore it. Priya says to tell Lachlan.
“I can’t thank you enough for standing in, Delaney.” Greg says as we walk outside together. “Someone with your qualifications can really help our struggling kids.”
