“She is,” a giddy smile plays against my lips just as the bell rings and she passes me the other breakfast wrap and coffee.“Thanks, Sunny,” I give her a wink and begin to move towards the door when I hear her footsteps behind me.

She grabs the door, and I walk out. “Won't be a minute!” she calls out to Sammi before she follows me towards the office.

Riggs isn't there yet and I am kind of grateful.

I just feel like once Luke is put in the cell, shit is going to come down on us.

There is a niggle in my gut that I know how it is going to go, but I am also not sure if it is anxiety.

Pushing my office door open, Sunny walks past me and I follow before placing our coffees and wraps down on my desk.

I quickly check my computer and make sure nothing urgent is sitting on there.

I have a meeting with the judge in a couple of weeks, just to go through a few things on his list.

Mostly nothing to do with me.

Marty is due there too.

But if this is going the way I think it is, a new livestock commissioner will be sitting in his place.

Locking my computer, I nod for Sunny to follow me to my side room, and I text Riggs telling him what is going on just so if he turns up and sees my office empty, he knows where I am.

Closing the door behind me, we sit down, and I reach across for my notebook and my recorder. Turning it on, I look down at it to make sure it's got battery.

“Okay, this is just a quick five-minute interview if that's okay?” I say softly, trying to reassure her and she nods.

I give her a nod then press record.

“Please state your name,” I grab a pen out the pot and get ready to jot it down.

“Sunny Olivia DeLuca.”

I continue with the normal questions, place of birth, date of birth, where she lives etc. It's all routine and I don't really want to be doing it but you can never be too careful.

“When did you last see Conrad Fisk?”

“Last Tuesday,” she says loud and clear.

Perfect. Conrad was found a couple of days after.

“And how was your meeting?”

“Fine, we arranged to go for drinks on Friday down Randy's...” she pauses and her bottom lip trembles.

“Take your time Sunny.”

She nods, knotting her fingers in front of her and I fucking hate this.

“He had a phone call just before we said goodbye. He stepped away and spoke quietly. He didn't seem panicked, more excited maybe. Who knows. Conrad was always a happy go lucky kind of guy.”

And I nod, knowing exactly what she meant.

He was a wind up but nice with it, he liked to spark a reaction but more for amusement.

I honestly don't think he had a malicious or vicious bone in his body.

“Do you know who it was?” I press her but she shakes her head.
