CHAPTER1

Logan “Coff”Folger

I noticed her the moment she walked into the bar. I lean down to take my shot, but just as I do, she tosses her head back and laughs. My eyes are drawn to her neck and her lips. A distraction I don’t need because instead of sinking the eight ball and winning this game, the cue ball barely caresses the eight but aligns it perfectly for my opponent’s next shot.

My friend, Brad, laughs. “If that’s all it takes to distract you, then we should come here more often.”

“Is she a regular?” I nod in her direction.

“The one in the dress standing with her is here sometimes, usually with a guy. But the one in shorts you can’t take your eyes off of? No. At least, not that I’ve noticed.”

My eyes go back to the bar, but she’s no longer there.

“Looks like you might need some lessons in pool,” a sexy voice says behind me.

I spin around, ready to say something funny, but I’m struck speechless.

It’s her. Long, dark, wavy hair falls over her shoulders, leading to a curvaceous body, which she shows off in a tight tank top and shorts. My eyes move back to her face. Her lips are full and curved in a smile. But it’s her eyes I stop at. They’re hazel and mesmerizing.

“You all right over there? Need another minute to look?”

She has a sense of humor. That’s good.

I smile. “I don’t need a lesson. But you do owe me a game.”

She arches a brow. “Is that so?”

I lean in close and get a whiff of jasmine. “You distracted me,” I whisper next to her ear.

She shivers, and I’m happy to see she’s just as affected by me. She glances at her friend, then back at me. “Is that so?”

“It is. Can I buy you a drink?”

She laughs. “You don’t negotiate well, do you?”

I grin. “Sorry, I can’t think straight, staring at such a beautiful woman.”

She rolls her eyes. “Come on. You can do better than that.”

I wish I could, but I’m not a man of many words, and right now, this woman has me twisted up. I step into her space. “I’m afraid I can’t. You see, this sexy woman entered my orbit, and now I’m having trouble thinking clearly.”

She crosses her arms. “I really expected more from you.” Her eyes roam over my body with heat. “I guess I was wrong.” She spins on her heels and walks away.

I chase after her and step in front of her. “You weren’t wrong.”

Her head tilts back until she’s looking me in the eye. I’m standing too close to be proper, but hell, I don’t care.

“Tell me, can you think clearly in the bedroom?”

Her words surprise me. But her eyes move to my obvious hard-on, and there is no mistaking what is going on here.

“Let me take you to my bedroom, and I’ll give you a night you’ll never forget.”

When her gaze meets mine again, she laughs. Not quite the reaction I was hoping for. She takes my hand.

“You can call me Delaney.”

“Logan.”
