Durango closes his eyes. “We’re going to have to work something out. I don’t want to hear or see anything.”

“Ditto to you and Willow.”

His brows shoot up. “Nothing has happened with Willow.”

I cock my head. “Really? She was over here a few nights in a row.”

“And she left at a reasonable time each night. If you’d come out of your room, you’d know that.”

“I wasn’t going to risk seeing you two on the couch doing something I don’t want to see.”

“That couch? Why would we… Oh no, please tell me you two weren’t on the couch.”

“No, we weren’t.”

“Good. Because I like that couch. Don’t ever do anything there.”

I cross my arms. “Why are you here? I thought you were on an assignment.”

He shoves his hands into his pockets. “I was, but it ended. Reed sent me home. He knew I wanted to check on you. Where’s Moose anyway?”

“When Ozzie arrived yesterday, he took over.”

He shakes his head. “Took over? I see he’s doing a great job. I could have been in your room, and he hasn’t even shown his face yet. What if I was John?”

The bedroom door opens, and Ozzie steps out. “We knew it was you. If it was John, I would have run out.”

Durango straightens up and steps closer to Ozzie. “How did you know it was me?”

Ozzie shakes his head. “Because you called out for her.”

“After I was already halfway to her room!”

I step between them. “Enough. You two go to the kitchen and get along. I’m going to get dressed, and I’ll be there in a minute.”

I get dressed quickly and get to the kitchen before they can argue any further, but I’m surprised when I see them both laughing. “What happened?” I ask.

They both look at me, puzzled.

“What do you mean?” Durango asks.

My hands go to my hips. “You two were arguing, and now you’re not.”

Ozzie shrugs. “That’s how we always get along. You aren’t used to seeing us disagree. It’s usually work-related.”

Durango points at Ozzie. “Yes, what he said.”

I go to the sink and fill a glass with water.

“We should go to your room,” Ozzie says to Durango. “I have questions about your assignment.”

I roll my eyes. “You can talk in front of me. I sometimes see your case reports.”

They both turn to face me.

“You do?” Durango asks.

I take a sip of water. “Yep.”
