“Umm, yeah. I heard you, but I was hoping I misunderstood you.”
“You didn’t. Answer the question.”
“No, I’m not fucking Breeze.”
I purposely walked around the opposite side of my car to avoid being close enough to Tia to snatch her ass up. She had a lot of nerve accusing me of sleeping with a taken man.
“You expect me to believe he spent the night at your apartment, and nothing happened?”
I stopped in front of my car, which was facing the building. “I don’t care what you believe. It’s not my job to convince you of shit.”
She kissed her teeth before saying, “If you didn’t fuck him, you want to. I’ve seen the way you look at him.”
“Girl, I had a whole man up until last night. You’re delusional.” I started to walk away again as she continued her rant.
“Nah. You’re delusional if you think nobody notices how you and Breeze look at each other, your ex included. That’s probably why he beat your ass, and I can’t say you didn’t deserve it.”
I stopped and slowly turned around. “First of all, fuck you. Second, I refuse to go back and forth with you about a man whose dick I ain’t never had the pleasure of feeling between my jaws or walls. However, that might change tonight since you think it’s cool to make light of domestic violence. Enjoy your night because I’ll certainly enjoy mine.”
Tia continued to talk shit to my back, but I didn’t have time for it. I couldn’t deny my attraction to Breeze because I’d wanted him for years. However, he didn’t want me, so I let that fantasy go. Instead of focusing on me, she should’ve been focused on her man.
When I got on the elevator, I pressed the button for Breeze’s floor instead of mine. I knocked on his door, and my heart raced as I waited for him to open it.
“Wassup? You good?” he questioned when he saw me outside his door for the second time tonight.
“I’m fine. Can I come in?”
He responded by opening the door wider to give me space to enter. I waited for him to close and lock the door, then followedhim into the living room. He sat on the couch and patted the space next to him, inviting me to do the same.
“Wassup, Mel?” he asked again.
“Nothing. I couldn’t find one of my purses and went to see if it was in my trunk.”
“Did you find it?”
“No, but I ran into Tia as she was leaving.”
“Yeah. She left a few minutes ago.”
“We exchanged a few heated words.”
He sighed and wiped his hand down his face. “What happened?”
“She accused me of fucking you.”
He shook his head but didn’t look surprised by my statement.
“I’d never let you fuck me, baby. I’d be doing all the fuckin’.”
I rolled my eyes but couldn’t hide my smile or ignore the tingling between my thighs.
“Be serious for one minute, please. Why does she think we’re messing around? We’re never alone, and I hardly talk to you when we’re together as a group.”
“From what Tia said, we can’t keep our eyes off each other.”
I laughed. “That may be true on my end, but I swear it’s not on purpose. I try my hardest not to look in your direction, especially when Tia and Sean are around.”
“Have you ever noticed how often our eyes meet?” I nodded. “It’s because Tia is right. Seeing your beautiful face is one of the highlights of each day. It doesn’t matter where you are in a room, my eyes find their way to you. Fighting it was a losing battle, so I gave up, but I didn’t think anyone noticed.”
