Dimitri, Luca, Dante, and Etienne’s jaws dropped.
I picked up where Pixie laid off. “When you look at me, what do you see? Purple hair? Curves? A snarky mouth? When you look at Pixie, do you see the stripper? It is funny really that you guys areso Elite. You mentioned at the club that people seemed to fear me.” I shrugged. I knew who I was. “You should have picked up on the fact that other than those, who disrespect me and get their shit rocked, that is just who I am.”
I paused, taking a deep breath. “Now magick users have pretty good senses. The others who don't know of Exousia, well, they have no idea why they respect me, they just do, because of what I do. Even if people haven’t been helped by me directly, word travels quickly. Those homes falling apart in the lower castes? I fund to rebuild them. Magicks who are too low on the Council’s radar? I bring them food, provide safe shelter. Anyone who steps over is handled quickly and efficiently. So who am I, boys, hmm?” I then waited for their reply.
“24601?” muttered Dante.
I blinked and laughed. “Hot, very hot, but yes, I am essentially Jean Valjean. I brought hope and gave jobs, except I didn’t go off and fuck over some lady who ended up with an STD and adopt her baby or anything… I have read the documents given to you, the ones in the hidden dashboard of your car. I have seen why you came into the city way before when I hacked into all the Council networks and saw the fake names and positions of the supposed people murdered. I knew you were going to come, what I didn’t know was that we would be destined by some fucking magickal jokester, to be bonded in any way, but here we are.” I give a dry laugh while I take another chug from the bottle.
“Wait, when did you get into our trucks?” Luca asked.
I looked at him and laughed. “Dude, did you seriously think you were going to park in my private garage, and we weren't going to take advantage?” I scoffed. The nerve that he truly thought we would not be breaking and entering.
The day their fresh uniforms were brought up, a nice little stack of documents were put in the kitchen cabinet too. I felt the need to laugh maniacally but I held myself back. Impressions and all that.
“Oh and Pixie? Worked at the club to get information so we can figure out how the fuck to get closer to the Council. We knew we needed to join the ranks of Shadows. She is, like me, one of the best hackers and an encryptions specialist. You couldn’t find me because I didn’t want to be fucking found. Now we know there is a recruitment going on for camp in five weeks and you motherfuckers are going to give us an invite.”
“So you’re telling us that not only did you concoct a plan to draw Elite Shadows to your area to hunt you, you’re also the one who has been helping the city, and in turn, confusing everyone on the Council. Fuck.” Luca joins in my pacing. “What the fuck are we supposed to do? We have to bring someone in, it’s what we were here for.”
I just kept pacing, and Luca snapped, “For fuck’s sake, Ellie, I cannot think while you’re strutting around like that.”
“I do not strut, asshole, I glide. Cannot handle seeing your intended bonded saving the world, deny the bond,” I snapped back. If it was any quieter, I’m sure it would be because we were in Dimitris’ hidden coffins.
“Deny…the…bond?” Luca said softly, and sat down with his back against the wall.
“Magicks can spend their lifetime without feeling the purity of the bond, and to deny that would be like ripping someone in two. Is that what you want, Ellie? Pixie? To deny what magick is telling us is right?” Etienne said softly.
I sighed. “Listen. I am a very logical person, I say fuck a lot, I’m a fucking badass, I kill people. Not the easiest person to love under all of those conditions, but Pixie and I have been bonded since we were fourteen. I have no idea how to live without her. I would never want to. I know what it is like to be bonded. To be loved, made love to, I do not want to deny any of you that. Pixie?” I looked at her.
“No, I do not wish to deny the bond, but give us another alternative. Plain and simple, we need invitations to get into the Shadow ranks, you cannot deny our fighting skills. Those skills, alone, would make us a perfect fit. How the fuck are we supposed to hide purple sparks?” Pixie said quietly.
Dimitri’s head snapped up at that. “How did you know about the recruitment anyway? It's by invitation only, and no one but the Shadows know about it.”
I spoke up at that, “So you know I said I was stronger than Dante? Well, when I met Pixie, she was stronger than me in that department. We have trained and we are strong, we got her a place at the club so she can read the minds of officials to glean information.” I smiled.
Dimitri looked taken aback. “Stronger? I’m going to get back to that because I have a shit ton of questions, but you’re saying you picked it up from the club? Not even they would know.”
I looked at my now empty bottle,nut-fucking, magick liquor-burning-fucker upper, and went to find a new bottle. Luca looked at me strangely to look for any effects of the alcohol. Fuck it, I wasn’t hiding, not from them, they either accepted the bond or they fucked off, and I erased all their shit. Like a fucking Ellie Virus.
“Ah hah! Another bottle!” I exclaimed. I took my time opening it, drinking deep and giving some to Pixie too. “Where were we, oh yeah. No, not the patrons at the club, those nut-scratching sack-lickers didn’t know shit. Do you know how many jaws…anyways back on track…I picked it up from you boys,” I said cheekily.
They all started talking at once.
“Ah…ah…ah, bad boys,” said Dixie Pixie with a stern face.
“One at a time. I’m sure you all have the same question, but then after that I’m taking a fucking relaxing jacuzzi dip with my magick wife,” she said saucily, and winked at me.
“I'll go first,” said Dante. “How did you know we would even come to the area? You also mentioned reading classified documents. How the hell did you do that, let alone hide your trail so well?”
I sigh and sit down on the floor ignoring the sparks from being near Luca. “I knew because I have been studying the Council for years. I am the best hacker and no one can bypass my encryption. Those programs built to hack encryptions? Yeah, I built them, sold them, bought the company and I’m the silent and never seen CEO. I’m young but I’m a baby genius. I knew the Council would send a group of Elites once the tales of the vigilante rose. They tend to be some conceited, corrupt, pretentious, stupid fucks. So I hacked, I read, and now I know shit. Next question.”
Dimitri went next. “Why do you want to get into Shadows so badly? I’m assuming it is to make an Elite team and get close to the council, but why?”
I smiled darkly. “The Council doesn’t keep everything electronically, they have paper files, books, knowledge hidden, and I want it. I need information and I’m going to get it. They killed my parents, and I want to fucking know why.”
Etienne went next as Luca was still sitting, looking like someone kicked his puppy. “How did you amass such a fortune? This shit looks like a fortress, you save lives, yet you also are known as a vigilante, who are you really?”
“I am all those things and more. I am Ellie Elimentis, the daughter of the last known, most powerful Water and Fire Elemental ever on the Council of Magicks.”
