Glaring at him, I turn away and climb out of the car. Grey steps out behind me and says something to the driver. I concentrate on calming my racing heart, enjoying the cool night air on my flushed skin. Every nerve ending sings from the way he’s just made me feel, but it’s not enough. I need more. I need Grey like I need oxygen, and until I have him, nothing else matters.

“This way, princess.” He tugs my hand toward the glass doors gilded in gold that mark the main entrance of his apartment building.

“Oh, I get to use the front door this time?” I toss back at him.

He winks. “Unless you prefer the back door.”

My face heats at what he’s insinuated. “Jericho Grey Diavolo, where are your manners?”

He stops me just outside the doors, expression darkening as he leans in close. “No one calls me that.”

“Actually, your mom said it’s reserved for when you’re in trouble. And I’d say you are.”

He glares at me with a glint in his stormy eyes that steals my breath. “Princess, the only one in trouble here is you. Now, let’s go before I take you right here on the street.”

I shudder because damn if I don’t want whatever punishment he’s offering to give me. His watchful eye doesn’t miss my reaction either.

“That’s what I thought.” Flashing a devilish grin, he leads me through the lobby doors, which is a new view of the luxury apartments considering I’ve only ever entered from his private elevator inside the parking garage. The lobby floor gleams white beneath a chandelier that hangs high overhead. Two uniformed guards nod at us from behind the tall desk.

“Evening, Mr. Diavolo,” one of them calls.

Grey dips his chin and keeps me moving. His hand on my back is firm and possessive. Like he’s done being careful or keeping his distance. I’m not sure when we both decided to stop pretending we don’t want each other, but now that I’ve given in to him, I’m impatient for more.

We can’t get upstairs fast enough.

Inside the elevator, he turns to me, and I brace myself for more of the roughness he used when we left the party. But this time, when he kisses me, it’s slow and deep. Like a long drink of water from a thirsty man. Somehow, I feel more claimed in this kiss than I ever have.

And I offer him all of me, without a single shred of hesitation.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I know this can’t last. The truce we’re calling in order to come together like this is way too fragile, considering the uncertainty of the future. I tell myself I can keep this from becoming too personal even while that voice inside my head screams at me for the lie.

The elevator opens to his apartment, but for a moment, he stands here, kissing me lazily. His hand is snug against the back of my neck, angling me just right so his tongue can taste me at his pace.

It should have been more than enough considering he’s already given me one mind-blowing orgasm, but already I can feel my own desire building into something more demanding.

“Grey,” I say, breathless and already coming out of the front of my dress thanks to his roaming hand. “I need more.”

He flashes a devilish smile. “Oh, there’s plenty more in store for you, princess. I’m only just getting started.”

He leads me back to his bedroom, and suddenly that line between lust and intimacy blurs even further.

I hesitate, but he tugs me harder.

“What is it?” he asks, pulling me flush against him.

“This is your room. It feels…personal.”

“Itispersonal,” he agrees, trailing kisses down my throat. When he meets the fabric of my dress, he moves it away to continue kissing my neck and my chest. His mouth finds my breast, and I tip my head back to give him better access, sighing with pleasure.

He straightens, yanking me back to reality when his mouth leaves my skin. I open my eyes to find him watching me intently.

“Tell me you want this,” he says.

“What?”

“I need to hear you say the words, Lexi. I need to know you’re not going to use this against me later. You’re not my prisoner, do you understand me?”

“I want this,” I say, my heart fluttering as the words reach my ears.
