Page 92 of Killian

The plane comes to a stop and I feel Killian undo his seat belt. “Stand,” he demands.

I move off of his lap, standing in front of him. He grabs my hand, weaving his fingers with mine.

“What about our bags?” I murmur.

“The crew will put them in the car for us,” he says as he slowly leads me toward the exit.

He picks me up, cradling me bridal style as he carries me off the plane. He walks a little way before setting me down. I hear a car door open, and my pulse starts to race.

“Are we going to have some fun in the back seat?” I tease.

“Not right now, but maybe later,” he rasps. “Now slide in.”

I reach out, feeling for the car, and sit down in the seat. I feel as Killian reaches across me, buckling my seat belt.

“Thank you,” I whisper.

“You’re welcome.” He places a tender kiss on my lips before shutting the car door.

Killian walks around to the driver’s side and gets in and as soon as he gets on the road, I reach across the middle and grab his thigh, just wanting to touch him. He moves my hand, taking it within his, and holds it. We drive in silence and I can’t help but fall asleep.

“Greer,” Killian says softly as I come to.

“Are we here?” I ask as I realize the car is parked and he’s at my door.

“We are. Come on, just a couple more minutes and we can take that blindfold off.”

I slide out of the car and let him lead me toward our destination. I hear the crashing of waves in the distance and the smell of saltwater in the air.

“There are a few steps,” he warns before guiding me up them.

The sound of a door opening has my heart beating erratically with anticipation.

“Now stand right there,” Killian demands as he places me where he wants me. “Give me one minute.”

I hear him shuffle around for a little while as I shift from foot to foot.

“Okay, take off the blindfold.”

I carefully reach up and undo the knot at the back of my head, letting the tie fall to the ground. My eyes flutter several times, adjusting to the light. I instantly recognize Killian’s Irish home. Looking down, I see Killian kneeling before me, holding a ring.

I gasp, my hand flying up, covering my mouth.

“Marry me,” he demands, closing his eyes. “Our life won’t be easy. In fact, it will be anything but. I’ll be called away in the middle of the night and a target will always be placed on our backs. I’m a monster and I know it. But I want you, only you. I will protect you. Not because I think you’re weak, but because you’re important to me. The most important thing to me.” He pauses, gathering his thoughts as tears flow down my cheeks. “I never thought about having a family before you. But I can’t deny the thought of you carrying my child does something to me,” he says as he rubs his heart. “I’ll love you until my last breath. So take this ring and marry me.”

“You may be a villain to everyone else, but you never have been to me. I love you, all of you. Monster and all,” I say fiercely. I pause, watching Killian close his eyes, taking in the moment. “When?” I ask as I reach forward, grabbing his face. I kiss him fiercely.

“Say yes first,a ghrá,” he demands.

“Like you need me to say yes,” I tease, kissing him again. “Yes,” I murmur against his lips.

Killian stands, crushing me to him, kissing me. He pulls away and slides the ring onto my finger. I look down at the emerald-cut diamond with a dainty band that twists with diamonds.

“It’s beautiful,” I whisper.

“Just like you.”

“I don’t want to wait,” I tell him, looking him in the eye.
