“Got us some tickets?”
“I did. I also looked in Drake’s email and found the hotel reservation. They got the penthouse suite, so they should have enough room for us as well.”
“Almost like he knew we would chase them down.” I smirk.
Ezra rolls his eyes but doesn’t disagree.
“What’s the plan?”
Ezra looks off into space and thinks before he speaks. “We arrive and head to the hotel. We’ll call once we get there. If they don’t answer, one of us will sweet-talk the person behind the desk and get a key. Drop off our stuff, then hunt them down or wait for them to show back up.”
“Easy enough,” I say as I finish my shake and move to rinse the cup.
“Thanks for that,” Ezra says as he pushes his empty glass toward me.
“No problem.”
He stands and pushes in the chair. “I’ll meet you at the door in a few minutes. Car should be here anytime.”
Ezra heads down the hall to grab his bag. With the kitchen cleaned up, I do the same and meet him back at the front door.
Without a word, we head out and get into the waiting car service. Once the bags are in the truck, we slide into the back and take off toward the airport. While Ezra talks to the driver, I zone out.
Will she be excited to see me? How will she react? What is it about her that makes me act like a sixteen-year-old boy instead of a thirty-year-old man? I’ve never reacted to a woman the way I do her and I haven’t even met her in person yet and it’s absolutely ridiculous.
Twenty minutes later, we pull into the airport and check in. Tickets on our phones, we head right for security and go through the motions of checking in and what we need to do to travel abroad. We head right to our gate and see we have twenty minutes to spare.
Way too fucking close for my liking.
Due to our frequent flying status with this airline, we get to board right away.
“Have a nice trip.” The lady who checks my ticket winks as she scans my ticket.
“Thanks, I’m surprising my girlfriend.” I smirk as her face falls.
Her eyes light up again as she checks out Ezra behind me.
Ezra chuckles. “I think you mean our girlfriend.”
I look at him, surprised, as he hands her the ticket.
“Have a safe flight,” she says less than enthusiastically as we walk away.
“What was that about? I thought you didn’t want her?”
He shrugs. “Got that chick off my back, didn’t it? Isn’t that why you threw it out there?”
“We’re fucking assholes,” I say quietly so only he can hear me.
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
We find our seats and put our bags in the overhead compartment before sitting. After everyone is on the plane, the flight attendants go through the inflight procedures.
“Please power down all electronic devices at this time,” comes over the speakers.
I pull out my phone with every intention of turning it off but open my chat with Aurora and send her a quick message on PicApp.
The.Boricua: I’ll be seeing you soon, sweet girl.
