“Daddy.” He slept like the dead, so I poked him again. “Daddy.”
Groaning, Daddy finally woke up enough to pull his pillow over his head. “You can only have one.”
Huh?
Maybe he wasn’t awake?
“Papa is gone and there’s someone moving around. They keep walking by the door and it’s not Papa’s footsteps.” I wasn’t sure how I knew that but I did. “I don’t know what to do.”
He would know what to do.
“Go pee and then come back to bed.” Daddy rolled over and wrapped his arms around me, still hiding. “Neither of us has to work this morning…Pokey…Pokey said something about having to go to work.”
Oh.
Maybe I remembered that.
“But what do we do?” I wasn’t sure I could sleep with someone walking around. “What if they don’t know we’re here?”
“Then Pokey’s a moron.” Groaning again, Daddy pushed the pillow off his face and pretended not to be frustrated. “Worst-case scenario, we explain to the cops that we’ve just started dating. I know a lawyer. It’ll be fine. This happens with rich people more than you think.”
That hadn’t been the plan I’d been expecting.
Mine had been more be embarrassed and panic.
“I…I don’t know a lawyer.” Daddy got into a lot more trouble than I did, so it probably wasn’t a surprise that he knew who to call if Papa’s house manager went nuts. “Can I use yours too?”
“Of course, baby.” Pulling me tighter, Daddy squished me against him and nuzzled against my chest. “Now, you’re entirely too tense and that’s no way to start the day. Let’s fix that.”
I giggled as Daddy started nuzzling my chest. “I just think you’re hungry.”
His tummy growling was what’d woken me up…then I’d heard the strange footsteps moving around.
“I’m always hungry for my boy.” Daddy pushed me onto my back and rolled over so he was draped down my body. “Much better.”
Yes…I had to agree this was much better than worrying.
Daddy was wiggling over me and his lips wrapped around my nipple…much much better.
“I…” Sighing, I closed my eyes and let him ease the ache in my chest. After what might’ve been a few minutes, I started to doze so I had to fight how good he made me feel. “I forgot where I wasfor a second when I woke up. It was confusing but then I saw you.”
Daddy made a pleased hum and nuzzled against me as his tongue and lips worked my nipple.
“I liked that you came to get me last night.” I should probably tell them that they didn’t need to do that all the time but I’d do that later. Thinking was too hard at the moment and my brain kept trying to go back to sleep. “I…I’m good at firing people…work me, that is…but regular me starts to worry.”
They’d kept me distracted, though.
“Papa saved me dinner.” They’d done a good job taking care of me and that was a much easier topic to talk about. “And…and you got me a bath. That…that was a nice way to end the day.”
Daddy had found a good way to start the day too. It was so good, he’d somehow moved to the other side without me noticing. That didn’t mean my worries had vanished like magic. My worries were very real because they had footsteps, but Daddy was making it hard to remember that.
“You…you made getting off work really nice.” It was usually a lot harder than that and I’d gotten to bed before the sun had come up. “I slept good.”
I hadn’t gone to bed sad or achy or hungry.
It’d been a long time since I was up before ten in the morning after work.
I didn’t even smell like the bar…I smelled like my strawberry bubbles.
