Tevin smacks the back of his head. “Dude, you have to let him come out. We talked about this.”

“Ow!” Malik says, rubbing his head. “I felt bad for the guy. The four of us know already.”

Tevin glowers at him.

“It’s true. We didn’t know how to tell you,” Idris says matter-of-factly.

“Yeah, Kaleb told me that you all suspected as much. Are you all cool with it, for real?”

They respond at the same time, and it’s a mix of “Of course,” “Hell yeah,” “No doubt,” and “Duh, dummy.”

“Cool, because I’ve been dating someone pretty seriously since last season.”

“The hickeys gave that away. Ready to tell us who the lucky guy is?” Kaleb asks.

“Is it your agent Patrick?” Malik asks.

I frown. “Phil? No. Why?”

Tev’s forehead crinkles. “The dude’s hella thirsty whenever you’re around. Either he likes you, or you’re his favorite client.”

How am I the last to know these things? Sid is right. I have no radar for flirts.

I huff out a breath. “Nah. Not him.”

I rub my sweaty neck as I take in the four pairs of eager eyes.

Here goes nothing.

“It’s, uh, well, you know him, actually.” I wince, bracing for their reaction. “It’s…um…” I clear my throat. “It’s Sid.”

I’ve never seen four jaws drop at once—until today.

“Sid who?” Kaleb asks.

“Sidney King,” I reply.

Idris cackles. “Shut the fuck up.” He turns to the guys. “He’s fucking with us.” They haven’t pulled up their jaws yet, so they don’t respond. He turns back to me. “You’re fucking with us, right?”

“Does that explain why that Ferrari is in your driveway?” Tevin asks.

I cross and then uncross my arms. “Yes. We own a house together too. I haven’t lived here in a while. We just keep it for appearances.”

“No way. We’re being recorded. Where are the cameras?” Malik asks, looking around.

I decide to fast-forward things, unlock my phone, and pull up a picture of Sid and me kissing. I figured it might come to this. I show them the picture, and then another one, and their eyes go wide as reality sets in.

“Sid is gay? What about the women he’s dated?” Idris asks.

“I’m gay. He’s bi and demi. Have you seen him date anyone publicly recently?”

They seem to think it over.

“Exactly,” I say.

“He’s the one that’s given you all the hickeys?” Kaleb asks.

I nod. “We’ve been official since All-Star weekend last season. I’m sorry for keeping it from you. I was terrified that it would hurt us, my career, and our team.”
