“See you soon, Sir.”

“Sir will do for now, but we hope that will change after this morning.” There was a click and the dial tone greeted Destinyas her brain raced to process what Eli had said. It seemed like yesterday that Jackson had muttered those same words to her.

“Sooooooo? What did they say?” Jess asked as she impatiently bounced on the bench she was sitting in.

“Jackson said that they would be here soon and we were to wait inside for them unless we wanted to start our morning out with a discussion about disobedience.”

Jessa scoffed at her response. Destiny immediately knew what her sister was going to say. There wasn’t much that her twin would buck at, but being told that she couldn’t do something just because she was told not to was one of them.

Jessa liked to know the exact reason she needed to do or not do something. Destiny understood because she was the same way, but the difference is she wouldn’t push the issue and would just obey while her twin would argue until given a reason.

“Jessa, no. We don’t want to rock the boat before we even get in it. Think this through.”

“Oh, I’m thinking about it. I’m thinking that I need to show these men exactly the kind of person they are chasing after.”

D sighed. There was no changing J’s mind about this. Which means that they would both be having a discussion because she wasn’t going to let her sister do it alone. Silence fell upon them as they finished their routine.

Once done, the twins gathered up the few things they would need today and put it all in the small backpack Destiny would carry. It seemed pointless for them each to carry a bag when they were going to the same place and D didn’t mind toting their things around.

She ran her hands over the bag admiring the design. It was a Winnie the Pooh mini backpack that displayed all the characters sitting around the table. Destiny loved Winnie the Pooh almost as much as she lovedThe Jungle Book.

Her favorite characters were Pooh, of course, but also Roo and Piglet. Those three made her heart do a happy dance each time they appeared on the show.

Slinging the bag on her shoulders, D followed her sister out of the room towards the front of the house. Taking a deep breath as she stepped out onto the front porch, D bounced over towards the swing and sat down beginning to softly swing.

Ten minutes later there was a loud crunching noise as a car started down the driveway. Dread settled in Destiny’s gut like a rock sinking to the bottom of a lake. She knew that this wouldn’t be good and all her instincts were screaming to run inside.

Turning her head just as the car shut off and Jackson slid out of the passenger seat, the urge to bolt grew stronger. Just as he took the first step onto the porch, D couldn’t fight it any longer and stood to dart off.

A quick arm around her waist halted her steps as a warm whisper floated across her ear, “Not so fast, Little Wolf.” The ground left from beneath her as Jackson carried her back towards the swing she had been occupying.

Expecting to sit beside Jackson, Destiny was shocked when instead of sitting her down on the swing beside him, Jackson sat and settled her on his lap, securing her with a thick arm around her waist.

“Settle down babygirl, I’m not going to hurt you.” Jackson whispered again as she wiggled along his lap trying to escape his hold. Destiny took a quick deep breath before allowing her body to relax.

Destiny sat in silence as she watched her twin battle the internal war she was facing. She knew that Jessa was fighting every instinct she had to keep from pulling her from Jackson’s embrace.

“So, do one of you care to explain why you are sitting on the front porch instead of inside like you were instructed to do?” Eli questioned, glancing at Jessa before turning his gaze upon D.

“We don’t have to listen to you. Plus, there’s no reason why we couldn’t wait outside for you. It’s not like we were going to get hurt sitting on the swing,” Jessa snapped out leveling Eli with a glare.

“Mhm, I see. Jackson, I do believe our Little girls are already testing the waters to see what they can get away with.” Destiny felt a huff come from the chest she was laying against.

“Do you have anything you would like to add, Little Wolf?”

Dread settled in her stomach. She didn’t want to let her sister be the only one getting into trouble, “I told her that we were supposed to stay inside.”

“And why didn’t you just stay inside when you knew she was going out?”

Destiny paused. She really didn’t have a good answer for that. She’s just always done what her sister had done, “I’m not really sure, Sir, but I didn’t want to leave her out here alone.”

Destiny looked over at Jessa, once again having an entire conversation without once murmuring a word.

I’m scared sissy. What if they decide they don’t want us now.

If they do it would be their loss. I promise no matter what you will always have me and I will always be there to protect you from the bad stuff.

“Jackson it seems once again that our girls are speaking without ever muttering a word.”
