“That sounds way worse than it actually was. I just wanted to check in on you and make sure that you are doing okay. Then I couldn’t get the idea of being back in your life from my head.”

Jessa’s words faded into silence again as they all sat there just staring at each other.

“Rae, we know that you are a Little. We know that the wardens kicked you out for that reason and we will never forgive them for that. We will never forgive them for taking away all the precious years we could have had with our sister.” Destiny quietly spoke.

The girls watched as Rae’s eyes filled with tears once more. It seems like they weren’t the only ones who struggled with knowing that they missed out on important parts of each other's lives.

“We got accepted into Ivory Mountain University. We start classes on Monday.” Jessa blurted out. Might as well lay everything on the table and hope for the best.

A big grin broke out across Raelyn’s face before she launched herself into their laps scooping them up in her arms. The tiny hold that Jessa had on her tears shattered in that moment and her eyes began to leak.

Jessa wasn’t the biggest cryer at all and preferred to keep her emotions buried deep within, but there was no holding back the tears that flowed down her face.

Tears of loss of all the memories that they could have had, tears of excitement of what was to come, and tears of fear for the unknown that they would face.

The hardest part of their journey was done though and hopefully it was all just smooth sailing from here.

Jessa satdown on her bed back at the dorm exhausted from the night. The twins had stayed at Rae and Emmett’s house for several hours just talking and catching up.

They had talked about the last few years of high school, their graduation, looked at photos of the wedding, and discussed all the classes they were going to be starting on Monday.

Rae had wanted nothing more than for them to stay the evening, but after the emotional charge they had all faced, Emmett put his foot down to his wife and sent the girls home to sleep back at the dorm.

As much as Jessa would have loved to sleep under the same roof as her big sister again, she understood why Emmett did that and she was grateful for it. Stripping from her clothes and grabbing some pajamas from the closet, Jessa made her way into the ensuite bathroom and turned on the shower.

IMU was a smaller college and because of that the dorms were a lot different than some of the others that the girls had toured during college week. Each room held two bedrooms connected with a Jack and Jill bathroom, a very tiny living room, and the smallest kitchenette they had ever seen.

Like before when they lived back home, the girls opted to turn one of the rooms into a bedroom for both of them anddecided that they would use the other bedroom as a study area and playroom.

Jessa sang to the music playing on her phone while she took the quickest shower possible before slipping out and into her favorite nightgown. One thing she loved was a good nightgown. Jessa hated wearing pants because she felt like she was trapped in them.

She knew that Destiny felt the same about pants, except she takes it even a step farther and only wears dresses and skirts. Jessa didn’t mind doing the same, but she also loved a good pair of jeans. Especially if they made her butt look great.

Walking back into the bedroom, Jessa noticed that Destiny had already settled into bed for the night. It had been a long and busy day, so it didn’t surprise her that her sister was already fast asleep.

Tomorrow was their last day before classes started and knowing her sister, Destiny would want to spend the day just relaxing and getting all her things together for the first day. Jessa had a different idea though and she was determined to drag her twin out of this room.

Setting her alarm for the next morning, Jessa leaned over and turned off the lamp on her side of the room. She stared at the twinkle lights that they had hung up until her eyes closed and everything faded to dark.

Jessa joltedawake at the sound of her alarm going off. Reaching out to smack it, she turned off the alarm before dragging the blanket back over her head.

There was a giggle before something hard landed on her and curled around her side. Groaning, Jessa flipped back the cover and glared at her sister. Out of the two of them Destiny was the early bird and most likely had been awake for several hours already.

Jessa was more of a night owl and hated to be awake any earlier than 9 a.m. Growing up it was hard to find a balance between their sleeping habits, but they eventually did.

Glancing over at the clock she noted that Destiny must have changed her alarm when she had got up this morning. Jessa loved that her twin took care of her in those little ways.

“So, what did you want to do today?” Destiny whispered in her ear before snuggling in closer.

Jessa knew that people would find it weird how close they were and how comfortable they were together, but she didn’t care. It had always been this way with them even when they were still in the womb.

Their mom used to make jokes that they were always joined at the hip. Even in the ultrasound pictures, the girls could be seen wrapped around each other.

They never grew out of it and now it was more of a comfort than anything else. Jessa hoped that whoever they ended up with wouldn’t have a problem with it because she didn’t think it would be possible for them to stop.

“Well, I was hoping I could drag you out of here and we maybe go hit the pizza place just off campus. I heard that it has some of the best deep dish pizza in town.”

She felt Destiny nod against her shoulder. Well that didn’t take as much convincing that she had thought it would. Jessa was prepared to bargain and plead with Destiny, but she would take the win.
