Chapter Twelve
Something is rubbing up against my back. I groan, waving my hand behind me, thinking it's Igor doing something. My hand hits a solid wall of skin.
“Mngrf?” My mouth feels like it has cotton balls in it as I lift my head to look behind me.
Dorian’s amused gaze runs over my face in fondness. “Morning, beautiful.”
I turn in the bed to run my nose up his neck. “Hi.” My voice is a little ragged. “I need to brush my teeth.” No kissing until that happens. “Where are the other two?”
Everyone decided it was just easier to have them spend the night after everything that happened yesterday. Honestly, I love having them here. Igor is enjoying having more people to mess with as well.
“Mmm. Noah is in the shower. Kieron went downstairs with Igor to make breakfast. I got the duty of waking you up. I failed miserably. I just watched you sleep.”
“You know, if you sparkled in the sun, that would be stalker-like.” Teasing him, my fingers run through his hair. He has it down. I love his hair. “Would you let me braid your hair after I take my shower?”
Dorian has his gloves off as he hugs me tightly. His hands run down the back of my arms. “You can do whatever you’d like to my hair whenever you’d like.” He presses his lips underneath my right ear, making me quiver. “I hope that you’ll let me play with your hair sometime.”
Giggling as he blows softly behind my ear. “Of course you can. Anytime.”
Noah steps out of the bathroom just then. The towel is slung low on his hips, practically falling off. I know for a fact he did that on purpose because he is snickering at us.
"Like what you see?" His cockiness is hot but I’m not awake enough to verbally spar with him.
"Gurgle." I roll out of bed after extracting myself out of Dorian's arms, grabbing my towel on my dresser, and go into the bathroom. I lock the door just as the doorknob moves.
"Aw, c'mon. I was going to style my hair," Noah cries out through the door dramatically.
"You snooze, you lose, Tink." The shower drowns out his reply as I clean myself up for the day.
Even if it's my day off, I have work to do with the flowers for the dance. Including making sure the tree I picked for the centerpiece will be ready to move by the end of the week. It will need a day or two to acclimate to its new home. I don't want its first night there to be the night of the dance. That would stress out the young thing before it's comfortable with its new home.
I need to find what flowers to use for the human room. They won't grow magically, but that doesn't mean I'm going to slack on them.
Orchids would look great in the space. So would tulips, or even carnations if they were grouped together correctly. I have a ton of choices to go through to find the perfect ones.
I'm just finishing up brushing my teeth when another knock sounds.
"Breakfast is ready." Kieron's silky low voice makes my knees weak. Again.
"Okay. Be right down." Spitting out the last of the toothpaste, I wash my toothbrush and gargle some water before stepping out of the bathroom.
A pair of shorts, underwear, and my favorite ratty tshirt that I wear when I plan to be in the greenhouse for hours are laying on the bed.
"Thanks, Igor." I make sure to raise my voice so she can hear me in the kitchen area. If I have time today, I will see about finding the perfect flower companion, or minion, for her.
All the guys are sitting around the table in the corner. Each has a mug they are drinking out of. There’s a fourth mug next to the kettle with different teas so I can choose what I want. The kitchen smells of a classic breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and some fresh fruit is also cut up from what I can see on the table.
“So, what are your plans for today?” After getting my tea ready, I sit next to Noah. “Are you guys doing anything exciting for work?” I lean into Noah’s side. His hand goes around my shoulders.
“Just my regular ole shift. I’ll be done around four this afternoon. Is it alright if I come back here?” His lips press to my forehead and it feels like Heaven.
“Of course, it is. You all are welcome to come by at any time. I’ll make sure the lock spell is keyed to you three so you can just come in.” I pile my plate with bacon, eggs, and a few pieces of toast. My stomach growls hungrily at the first bite.
“I have a meeting with the mayor, but I figured after I’d come back here. I can do everything remotely. I have pretty much everything done for the dance. Just the last minor details have to be done.” Dorian sips his tea as he leans back in his chair. His hair is down. It flows over his shoulders like a wave. Unlike most vampires, Dorian likes solid food along with blood.
Kieron has just finished his breakfast. He wipes his mouth with a napkin before shooting me a panty dropping smile. “I’ll be working with my men on the final details for the dance. There shouldn’t be any issues, but it’s always better to be prepared.”
“Alright. Looks like we are all going to have things to do.” I take a bite of egg, relishing the light fluffiness of it. “Would you all like to have dinner here tonight?”
