“Can I get up now?”

I shook my head. “You guys.” I glanced at my art supplies that someone had moved next to the TV. They’d folded up the sheet before placing it under my painting that I was working on. I’d finished the fox two days ago. I’d hang it up in my room later until it was time to leave for the summer.
“Jasper and Axel are out in the back if you want to say hi to them. Axel is barbecuing some chicken for dinner.” Seth wiggled more on top of Cody, who looked to have given up. His face was turned toward the couch.
“I’ll go see if I can help.”
But before I did that, I picked my phone off the floor, took a quick picture before rushing out the back door before either of them could say anything.

Iwas kicking myself for chickening out with kissing her. Our lips had been so close when I’d frozen in panic. My thoughts had betrayed me as my inner demons had reared their ugly faces.

I’d jerked back, grabbed her phone, and ran for it. Using the phone as a way to make her think I hadn’t wanted to actually kiss her when I ached to. I’d literally ran into Seth as he was coming back inside from the deck. My nose still hurt from it. He’d taken one sniff of the terror coming off of me before he had me on the couch face down before sitting on my ass.

“Let’s get some new clothes. It sounds like the chicken is ready.”
“She didn’t see us, did she?” I let him pull me up, keeping our hands laced together.
“No, Axel and Jasper kept her attention so we could finish what we started.” He looked at me smugly. “I doubt she’d have minded seeing though. Just a hunch.”
I shook my head as we separated to grab clothes. I kept my voice the same level, knowing that he could hear me in the other room.
“She’d make a great mate for all of us.”
The rustling of clothes from the other room paused. “She’s human.”
“So is Felicity.”
