While her statement did make me want to flee as it usually did, the urge was less than it was at first.

I could do this. If everyone else believed in me, then I would, too.

Now, I had to talk to Alena about what I saw last night before I exploded.

“Can we have some girl-talk for a sec?” I asked, hesitating. I never had girl-talk before. I’d only read about it in books or seen it on TV.

“Absolutely.” Alena brightened. “I need good girl talk. My friend Rayna at work is not big on girl talk. Or much about talking at all.”

“Um.” I nibbled on my bottom lip as my cheeks flooded with color. “Last night, I overheard some noises coming from the guys’ room, so I got up to see.”

Alena’s smile widened, and she practically bounced on the bed. She wiggled her eyebrows up and down. “Did you see sexy times?”

My eyes fluttered shut as I nodded.

A shrill squeal pierced my ears, and I winced. “Did they know you were watching?”

“No!” I answered adamantly. “At least I don’t think they did…”

Oh no.

What if they had seen me? I mean, Noah probably was able to scent my arousal because I sure as shit had been aroused.

“Oh shit.” I dropped my head into my hands and groaned. “No. No. No.”

“Hey, it’s okay.” She dropped a hand onto my shoulder. “It probably made them even hotter, speaking from my own experience.”

I turned my head and peeked through my fingers. “They like you watching?”

“Oh yeah.” Alena nodded emphatically. “So do I. It’s hot as fuck.”

She was right. It was so hot. And I couldn’t get the images out of my head. James’ cock disappearing inside of Lucas’ ass as he swallowed Noah’s. The only way it could have been any better would be if I had been there, too, licking up and down Noah’s shaft with Lucas.

“I see you agree with me.” Alena gave me a knowing glance before we burst into giggles again.

As my laughter died down, I leaned against her. “Are you sure you can’t stay? Or better yet, just move closer.”

“I can’t.” Her voice sounded hollow, and guilt plagued me for even asking.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “I shouldn’t have said that.”

Alena shook her head. “No, it’s okay. I get it. Now that you’re here, I have even more reason to visit. When the guys first took me here, it became my happy place. Now that I know you’ll be here, along with Lucas’ cornbread and honey? Yeah, I’ll be here as often as I can.”

“How do you know I’m going to stick around here?” I cocked my head to the side.

“Come on, Bri. We both know those guys downstairs are your destiny. You just need time to adjust to the idea.”

I sighed and couldn’t even respond because she was right. I did know.

Slow. That’s what I needed.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Or at least that was the shit they used to say in the kids books.

I hugged Alena so tightly I might break her ribs if I added any more pressure. But I didn’t want to let her go. I only just found my bestie. I couldn’t let her get back on a plane and run away from me.
