“I think some kissing would be nice.” Feeling brave, I stepped into his space, tilting my face toward his. “Please?”

With a groan, Lucas cupped my cheek and pressed his lips to mine. It was tentative at first, a soft exploration of our lips, then he swept his tongue into my mouth, and I was under his spell.

His hand drifted down from my cheek to my neck, his thumb sweeping back and forth under my chin. His other arm banded around my back and pressed my body fully against his.

My soft curves against pressed tight against this hard muscled beta. A whimper echoed in the back of my throat, and my arms wrapped around his neck. My fingers toyed with the strands of hair at his nape.

I could feel the hard ridge of his erection pressing against my belly, and pure heat burst through my body. Every cell and muscle exploded with raw desire.

“Bridget,” Lucas breathed as he pulled away slightly. Our foreheads pressed together as we both fought to control our frantic heartbeats.

“Lucas.” I tangled my fingers in his hair and savored the feel of his body against mine. “Thank you.”

His head lifted, and his eyes filled with confusion. He shifted his hand and ran his thumb along my swollen bottom lip. “Thank you for what, Darlin’? I should be thanking you.” The smile that spread over his face made my knees weak.

Embarrassment made heat spread over my face, making me even redder than I was before. “Uh,” I hesitated, toying with his hair, smoothing down the strands I’d ruffled as we kissed. “That was actually my first kiss.”

Lucas’ mouth dropped in shock before he shook his head for a second. “You granted me your first kiss?” His tone was awestruck.

Heat filled my cheeks as I glanced down. “Yes?” I fought the urge to squirm under his gaze.

His thumb brushed my lower lip while he pulled my face upward to meet his lips in a chaste, gentle kiss. “You have brought light into our darkened home.”

Tears pricked the backs of my eyes at his simple but profound statement. “Thank you, Lucas.”

“You don’t need to thank me, or any of us, for that matter. It’s our honor to care for the most beautiful omega that I’ve ever laid eyes on.”

A clearing of a throat pulled me from the intensity of Lucas’ possessive expression. “Hate to interrupt, but you’re blocking the door.”

Noah looked sheepish as he rubbed the back of his neck and wouldn’t meet my gaze. His jaw clenched tightly, his nostrils flaring with a deep exhale. A slight blush tinged his cheeks, and I didn’t understand why an alpha like Noah would be embarrassed or hide.

Unless he didn’t like what he saw? Maybe he was furious with me for kissing Lucas? Had I misread the entire situation? Oh, Gods, no.

I backed away from Lucas like my hair was on fire and tried to retreat from the kitchen quickly.

“Bridget, what’s wrong?” Lucas asked, his voice on the edge of panic as he reached out and grabbed my wrist.

“I’m sorry!” My throat closed as I croaked out my apology. “Please don’t be mad at Lucas, Noah. I asked him to kiss me.”

“What?” Noah’s brow furrowed as confusion marred his features. “Why are you apologizing for that, baby girl?”

“Aren’t you mad?” I sniffed, wiping the tears from my eyes. “You wouldn’t look at me—at us. You looked so angry.”

A sound of pain ripped from Noah’s chest. “Oh, no! Baby girl, no!” He stepped close to me, his hands rubbing along my arms before clutching my hands in his. His eyes darkened as his gaze flicked between my lips and my eyes.

“Noah?” I asked after he opened and shut his mouth a few times as if he wanted to say something but couldn’t.

“I wasn’t looking at you because if I did, then I wouldn’t stop staring, and then I would say fuck it and just kiss you like I’ve wanted to for weeks.” His words came out in a rush.

“No one listens to me,” Lucas whispered under his breath, and I glanced at him over my shoulder.

“Can everyone elaborate on their mysterious statements, please?” I crossed my arms over my chest and took a step back. My gaze bounced between the two. Lucas looked utterly and completely smug, that mischievous smile tugging up the corners of his lips.

Noah, on the other hand, rolled his eyes at Lucas.

“I just meant, I’ve been telling Noah and James that we needed to start showing you how much we care and want you.” Lucas was so intense that it made goosebumps roll over my arms, and a bolt of desire sparked between my legs.

“Giving her more time doesn’t mean we don’t care any less.” Noah crossed his arms over his broad chest and turned to Lucas. “It’s killing me to wait. Every second of every day since she’s gotten here, all I want to do is pull her into my arms and kiss the living daylights out of her.”
