CHAPTER22
Bridget
Yesterday had not gone the way I’d planned.
It was so much better than I could have ever imagined. James opened up to me. I got my first kisses from Lucas and Noah. The thought sent desire curling through my stomach and down to my core. Lucas was so sweet and tender. Caring.
Noah had been demanding and almost ruthless. As if he were famished and I was his last meal.
Oh, and James. James was a whirlwind of restrained passion.
Shaking my head, I sat up in bed and grabbed my penguin plushie, hugging it to my chest. I still needed to talk to them about my ideas for the website. Maybe I could do that today. My fingers touched my mouth, and a giggle slipped out as I thought about the kisses from last night. I wouldn’t mind getting more of those.
My stomach grumbled.
Food would be a good thing, too. I could start with that.
And coffee. Definitely coffee.
Sighing, I put Tux the penguin back against my pillow and rose to my feet. My eyes briefly shut and I gave myself a pep talk and did a deep breathing activity learned from therapy.
After I was mentally prepared, I needed to get dressed to be physically prepared.
I quickly threw on my clothes, and gazed into the mirror in the bathroom. I’d tied my unruly curls back into a ponytail at the nape of my neck. My shirt was a light blue with a cute penguin in the center of my chest. I loved all the adorable shirts Lucas kept giving me.
It was just yet another reason why these guys were the most amazing that I’d ever met. Simon had always been more of a brother to me.
Noah, James, and Lucas? Yeah, they were anything but brothers to me.
It was time to stop lamenting and thinking myself into a never-ending loop and actually go downstairs and face the music.
My footsteps seemed to echo throughout the hall as I descended the stairs to the kitchen. When my feet landed on the tiled floor, the aroma of something delicious reached my nose.
“Oh, Lucas, that smells so good,” I groaned, forgetting my trepidation in exchange for the food. I made my way over to the counter and peeked over his shoulder to see what he was making.
I knew it. Cinnamon buns.
“Not yet, missy. They’re too hot. Just got them out of the oven.” He slapped my hand as I reached to gather some icing on my finger. He gazed at me over his shoulder and winked as he then swept his finger through the icing. His lips pursed, and he blew on it, cooling it before he brought the sweet white goo to my lips.
“Now you can taste.” His voice dropped an octave, and a shiver of arousal swept through me. It made me increasingly thankful for Alena getting me the stronger suppressant. Because I didn’t think my old ones would help fight off a heat triggered by the arousal I’d been feeling lately.
“Lucas,” I breathed and decided to be bold. I leaned forward and drew his finger into my mouth. My tongue swirled around the digit, gathering every last droplet of icing I could. “It’s so good!”
Lucas’s eyes had dilated, and he cursed under his breath. “Really? I think I should get a taste, too, don’t you think?”
He didn’t give me the time to respond before his arms were around my waist, pulling me right up against him, and his mouth devoured mine with no hesitation. His tongue was suddenly dancing with mine as I let out a tiny whimper as he moaned in response, his hands tightening around me.
“Really, Lucas?” Noah’s amused voice behind us made me jump out of the circle of Lucas’s arms.
“Oh! Good morning, Noah.” I couldn’t quite meet his eyes. Not after that kiss with Lucas made me press my thighs together. My fingers played with the bottom of my shirt.
Noah’s boots came into my view before his hand came up, and his fingers gripped my chin gently as he tipped it up so I was looking at him. My breath stilled in my chest at his gaze.
“Good morning.” He kissed my cheek gently before moving back slightly, my chin still in his grip. “Sweetheart, we need to set something straight, okay?”
My back went rigid as anxiety swam into my stomach, beating out the butterflies that had previously been fluttering. “O…okay?”
Noah carefully butted his forehead to mine as we stared at each other. “You are gorgeous. Inside and out. We want you to be our omega, and I need you to get that through your silly head. No more putting your head down as if you have anything to be ashamed of.”
