As I moved up the steps, I paused to look at the three men.

Lucas was there with his bright hat and bright smile. The other two were taller. The one in the middle had a dark beard, and his eyes were dark brown. He tipped his hat to me. He was a beta, but he had alpha vibes with how he stood. No wonder I thought he was an alpha at first glance.

The last man, the tallest and bulkiest of the three, was an alpha. His bright blue eyes sparkled against the light, and the scruff on his chin was a light brown color. When the wind shifted, I got a whiff of his scent, and I had to lock my knees to keep them from buckling. Fresh pine hit me like a freight train and sent a shiver of pleasure down my spine.

I had to take breaths through my mouth. No. Oh, no. I wouldn’t be attracted to this alpha. I couldn’t.

He smiled at me as he took his hat off his head briefly.

“Bridget, this is Lucas, whom you met last night. In the middle is James. He’s in charge of the horses and training. The last one is Noah. He’s the big boss.” Simon’s teasing tone was evident as the three of them flipped him off.

“Shove off.” Lucas snorted and stepped forward. He took my hand gently. “Bridget, you look absolutely appetizing.” He pressed his lips to my hand, and I blushed. “Come with me?”

“Sure.” I glanced at Simon, who nodded. Alena stepped forward and threaded her arm through Lucas’ other arm.

“Mind if I join you?” Her voice was soft but full of confidence.

“Alena, darlin’, you can come with me anytime.” He winked saucily at her, and I snorted at the terrible joke. She smacked his arm, laughing.

“Let’s start in the main house.” Lucas threaded his fingers with mine and led us through the door, leaving the other men behind. “This is the formal living room. When our guests come into the main house, this is where they enter. It’s the only public access in the house. I keep it clean, so you’ll only need to worry about a quick dusting around occasionally.”

The formal living room was a large square room with multiple couches and chairs that faced each other. A large coffee table tied it together in the middle of the room.

The whole room had a masculine vibe.

“Now. Let me show you my domain.” Lucas squeezed my fingers and pulled me behind him while Alena looked at me with amusement.

Lucas led us through the hallway to the back of the house and into a restaurant-grade kitchen. My eyes widened. Nonna would be beyond jealous if she ever saw it. Everything was stainless steel, and gleamed in the light.

“This is my baby.” Lucas wiggled his eyebrows and let go of us as he spread his arms. “This is where I perfect my art.”

Alena laughed and touched the top of the oven. “You're an amazing chef.”

“You can keep giving me compliments.” Lucas waved his hand in front of his face, fluttering his eyelashes.

His outrageous behavior made me relax and had both Alena and me laughing.

“Now, I’m usually the only one allowed to cook in here, but if you ever want to use the kitchen because my cooking annoys you, I will make an exception. Only for you.” Lucas gestured to the room as he winked. He showed us where the camouflaged fridge was located and had fun showing us how the hidden mechanism worked.

“I doubt anyone would ever find your food annoying.” I touched the white marble countertop, loving the cool stone beneath my fingers. “Just your sandwich last night was delicious. My friend, Nonna, would have been impressed, and she’s an Italian grandma.”

“That is a high compliment!” Lucas bowed, sweeping his hand in front of himself with a flourish. “Italian grandmas are very picky.”

That was an understatement about Nonna.

“Now, down the hallway is Noah’s office,” Lucas began to move out of the room. “That’s where he takes care of the numbers and logistics of the business the best he can. You will be asked to clean that room. Our bedroom is upstairs, and you won’t have to worry about that.” Lucas stopped in a living room which was smaller but more comfortable looking than the formal living room. There was a large television on the wall with an L-shaped couch that looked comfortable.

“Your room will be upstairs, but on the opposite end of the house as ours.” Lucas led us up the stairs and through the hall to the right, to the door at the end. “Here, my dear. It’s away from the other rooms, not that they’re used much other than the master. Plus, we have everything soundproofed, so you can sleep in peace.”

I went through the door, and my eyes widened. The room was small, but I didn’t need much, and it was decorated so cutely. There were pinks and soft purples everywhere. A delicate lace netting hung from the ceiling to cover the bed. Pillows and blankets were piled high, each in stacks for me to choose from. It was a mini nest.

I’d never had an opportunity to build a nest myself.

Tears formed in my eyes before I could stop them.

“I hope it’s okay.” Lucas came next to me. “When Simon called, I went out and got what I could to make you comfortable. I got a variety of textures because I didn’t know what you’d like. I know we’ll have to go clothes shopping, too. But I hope this works for you. We can build it up more later. I’ll help you get your things in from the cabin later this afternoon.” He touched my hand, and I looked at him.

My arms went around his waist in a tight hug without thought. His arms were strong as they wrapped around me in a return embrace. His face pressed into my neck, and I fought a shudder of pleasure as he kissed my cheek.
