"That's her name." Noah quickly picked up the feed and made the rounds, filling up the horse's food. Along the way, he gave some extra love to Rusty and Honey. With Alena coming, one of her first stops was always to visit the horse we determined was hers.

"Are you really going to go see Mav?" I asked as I started mucking out some of the stalls.

"I'm gonna have to," Noah let out a sigh. "Maybe I'll take Xavier with me, threaten to fuck them up a bit."

I chuckled. "You should. That would be hilarious."

CHAPTER35

Noah

Itapped my fingers on the steering wheel as I drove the SUV off the property and toward the private airstrip Elias and his pack always used when visiting. A million thoughts whirled through my mind faster than a freight train.

Elias had already agreed to invest. In fact, he'd already drawn up all the papers and had them looked after by several lawyers. The deal was ironclad. Favorable to both of us, and even more so for Second Chance.

There were times when I knew I didn't deserve them as friends.

Hell, they weren't just friends. They were family.

As I pulled up, they were exiting the plane. Elias stepped off first, placing his sunglasses on his nose and looking around with a grin.

Alena ran down the steps, nearly tripping, but Elias snagged an arm around her waist just in time.

"Just as graceful as ever, I see." I chuckled as I made my way to the plane and helped gather their luggage to put in the back of the SUV. Luckily, they hadn't packed heavy, or I would have had to take multiple trips to get them and their bags back to Second Chance.

"You hush." Alena blew me a raspberry as Elias helped her up into the car. The rest of her guys swarmed around her, making sure she was comfortable before getting into their own seats. Elias sat in the front with me, much to my surprise. I thought I'd be alone like a chauffeur.

Like the last time, I'd picked them all up.

"How are things with Bridget?" He asked as I pulled away from the airstrip.

"Really good." I smiled, unable to help the gesture that transformed my face. I was a sap, and I knew it. But when it came to Bridget, I felt like one. I'm sure they felt the same way about Alena.

"I'm glad to see you so happy." Elias didn't elaborate. He didn't need to.

Iwashappy.

Well, I'm sure it would get even better once the threat of the loan shark was gone.

"We'll talk more when we get there," Elias said, seeing my face transform with worry. Damn alpha always was too good at reading people. A fact that made him very good at what he did.

“You’re scary with that shit.” I shook my head.

“Nah,” Elias retorted. “He’s the scary one.” He jerked his thumb to the backseat toward Xavier.

“Alena seems to like it,” Xavier replied as he wrapped an arm around Alena's shoulders and pulled her closer against him. He scratched his nose with his middle finger, making sure that Elias saw the gesture.

"Stop it," Alena swatted his hand away from his face. "Be nice. I swear you guys are giving me way too much practice for babies with how you behave."

The car went still, the silence so pointed as her four mates converged around her. "What?" She screeched. "I was kidding. You know I'm not pregnant. You'd be able to smell it, so back off and cool it with the crazy alpha hormones."

I bit down on my bottom lip to keep from laughing as the intensity in the SUV cooled down considerably.

"Don't think I don't see you trying to hold back that smile, Noah. You're on my shit list too." She crossed her arms over her chest just as I burst into laughter.

The rest of the guys followed suit, and even Alena gave up with a shake of her head and gave into her humor. "Men, I swear. I think Bridget and I should take over one of the cabins so we can get away from all your toxic masculinity. It's suffocating."

"Don't think your mates would like that too much, Alena." My lips pinched with thought.. "Come to think of it, I don't think I'd like Bridget being away from my bed, either."
