We’d always been in tune that way. I’m sure with our omega, it wouldn’t be any different.
And they’d want her just as badly as I did. We would give her space and time to settle in with us. Then, we’d show her what it meant to be a cherished omega.
CHAPTER5
Bridget
Alena left the room to give me privacy as I cried.
I couldn’t help but sit on the soft bed. Oh, this would make the perfect base for my nest. My instincts were already screaming at me to gather as many blankets, pillows, and clothes as possible to build my haven.
I wanted it to smell like each of the guys as well.
Oh no, where had that thought come from? I already wanted their scents surrounding me. I was going to be a goner in no time at all.
“Of course, we’re going to go shopping for the essentials tomorrow for you.” Lucas ran a hand through my curly hair. “I’m so jealous of your hair.”
Usually, I’d be uncomfortable with anyone touching me, but for some reason, Lucas was nonthreatening enough that I let my guard down. Somehow, I had a feeling it would be the same for the other two in his pack.
“Essentials?” I glanced up at him curiously.
“Clothes, more comfort items, whatever you need.” Lucas sat next to me. “We’re going to give you an advance.”
I had been about to argue, but that stopped me. I guess if I were going to earn the money, I wouldn’t mind an advance.
“Although, if I know the guys, Simon might just give you the money regardless of whether you accept it or not, because that’s just how they are.” Lucas chuckled. He glanced down at his watch. “It’s time for me to start cooking for dinner. You look exhausted, darlin’. Why don’t you nap?”
I was tired, but I didn’t want to sleep. “Can I continue my tour of the ranch?”
Lucas grinned. “Of course! Let’s go get James or Noah.” I followed him out of the room. As we were making our way, we ran into Noah. I tried to hold my breath to stop the slick from overwhelming me. Noah froze, and there was a purr as he looked at me with intense eyes.
I rushed down the hallway and out the front door as quickly as possible. Lucas stayed behind with a confused expression on his face. When I got outside, Simon walked toward the barn with James and Alena.
“Simon!” I rushed after them, managing not to trip over my own feet.
James turned and waited with the others. He was a quiet one. I could swear he was an alpha, but he wasn’t.
“We were going to go for a ride. Care to join us?” Simon gestured to some saddled horses nearby.
I paused. “I haven’t ridden in years.”
“That’s alright, you can ride behind me,” James spoke up. He gestured to the largest gray horse and patted its neck. “Sage can carry us both.” He offered his hand to me, and I took it. He set my hands on Sage’s snout, letting her sniff me.
I rubbed her nose gently, feeling a large smile take over my face. “She’s beautiful.” She butted my chest, sniffing my hands.
“She thinks you have apples.” James chuckled before handing me a sugar cube. As our fingers touched, my skin blazed. “This will have to do.”
I held the cube out, and Sage eagerly ate it.
“Let’s mount up.” James swung up onto Sage’s back as if it were the most natural thing in the world to do. He retook my hand, and before I could say anything, he pulled me up behind him. I couldn’t stop my surprised squeak because he’d just lifted me with one arm.
My hands went around his waist, and I had to remind myself not to linger on the feel of his flat stomach underneath his shirt. I thought wickedly about trailing my fingers under the fabric but stopped that as soon as it started to form.
What was with me? I’d been fine with no heats, no sex for twenty-four years, and now, all of a sudden, I wanted to jump the cowboy alpha, and now this beta. Maybe all these years of celibacy were catching up to me?
Simon had helped Alena onto a beautiful horse named Honey before getting onto his horse. Alena was beaming as she patted Honey’s neck.
“Alright, follow me.” James clicked his tongue, and Sage began to move. I tightened my hands around his stomach, and he rested a hand over mine.
