He kissed the top of my head as he held me close. "Me too. I can't wait for you to meet them. We're gonna let the dust settle a bit and get some improvements done to the house and property, and then we'll invite Mav and his sister Heidi over."
"You're going to love Heidi." James made his way over to the fridge to grab a bottle of water. "She's an omega. Feisty. She has four older brothers who have babied her for years, but that doesn't stop her from smacking them."
"What about Mav's mom?" I asked curiously. "I know you said she was your mom's best friend, Noah."
Noah's face fell, and sadness crept into his eyes. "She's really sick." He cleared his throat as a variety of emotions flickered across his face. "Stage four lung cancer. It's all about keeping her comfortable right now."
A gasp escaped my throat, and I wrapped my arms around Noah's waist to lend him what comfort and strength I could. "I'm so sorry."
Noah cleared his throat. "At least we patched things up before..." He trailed off.
"That's all that matters right now," I said softly as I rubbed a hand up and down his back.
"Yeah." He sniffed, then pulled me back slightly so I could tilt my face up to look at him. "Thank you for being here with us, baby girl. You've changed our lives for the better, and I know I speak for all three of us when I say that you're the best thing that's ever happened to us."
Tears filled my eyes as I reached up to cup his cheeks. "You've all brought love, laughter, and light into my life. I feel like I was just going through the motions before, but since I've been here, I've truly been alive."
Lucas and James pressed into me from the side. I wasn't even sure when they'd moved so close, but I savored the feel of them surrounding me. I was part of a family. A pack. A forever home.
It was everything I'd ever wanted.
The shrill beep of the oven timer cut through the rising emotions, and Lucas pulled away first.
"My cookies!" I exclaimed and got to the oven before him. Lucas gave me that knowing wink as he handed me the hot pads to protect my hands from the heat.
The moment I opened the oven door, James and Noah groaned. "Did you make oatmeal scotchies?" James rumbled his approval.
"Of course I did." I set the tray of hot cookies down and beamed at him. "They're everyone's favorite, myself included."
Noah thought he was being sneaky when he wrapped his arms around my waist to bring me in for a kiss. But it was just a distraction to get a cookie.
If I didn't know and feel how much he loved me, I'd be seriously offended. "Hey!" I scolded and smacked his hand before he could make contact with the hot cookie. "Later. They're too hot right now."
Noah pouted but backed away slowly.
I gathered the cookies with my spatula and placed them on a wire rack to cool. After I got another pan ready to go, I put them in the oven and sat down at the table where Noah and James were.
"So, did you two have a good day?" James raised a brow with his question.
Heat filled my cheeks, and I nodded. Probably too enthusiastically, judging by how both Noah and James burst into laughter.
"Seems like you had more fun here than we did." Noah rumbled and pulled me over to sit on his lap. I straddled his hips, facing him, and wrapped my arms around his neck. My fingers teased the ends of his hair, curled up because of the length.
"We found a way to pass the time." Lucas smirked and winked as he finished speaking. He placed a plate with a sandwich and some macaroni salad in front of Noah and James. "Figured you'd be hungry."
Noah's eyes darkened as his chest vibrated with a satisfied purr. "Come here, cub." When Lucas came closer, Noah grabbed him by the front of his shirt and brought him down for a heated kiss. Then, they each took turns kissing me. My body heated, a spark of arousal jolting through me and flooding my panties with slick.
"If I didn't enjoy watching so much, I'd be one jealous alpha right now."
I pulled back, my cheeks flaming with my blush, and looked over to James. He had a wicked grin on his face as he sat back against his chair with his arms crossed over his chest.
"I think we should make our way upstairs," Lucas nibbled on my earlobe.
I shook my head. "Cookies are baking, and you told Alena to get the guys over here around 5:30." I glanced down at my watch. "And it's 4:30 now, so upstairs is outside the realm of reality, love."
Lucas pouted, jutting his lip out all the way, in the most pathetic face I'd ever seen. I rolled my eyes and slid off Noah's lap. I gave him one final kiss before returning to my cookies.
Because I was such a sucker and couldn't stand to see the sadness in Lucas' eyes, even if it was fake, I gave each of them a cookie. Their groans of approval echoed through the kitchen, and I squeezed my thighs together as a fresh wave of arousal flooded my body.
