I say that, knowing it wasn’t his fault. Knowing he can’t possibly control everything. But I need to say it. I need him to know I can’t be without him.

“If I have to stay by your side every fucking second, I will. Nobody will hurt you again. You hear me?”

He looks at me, movements slowing. “Yes,” he says with a nod.

I quickly flip us over and bury myself deep inside him, making him yell. “It’s me and you.”

“Me and you,” he breathes.

“When we end, it’ll only be because of death.” I thrust over and over again. “Me and you.”

He whimpers, reaching for his cock. “Oh, yeah.”

I grab his face and force him to look at me. “Together forever until death parts us.”

“Yes, yes,” he cries, eyes focused on me.

Both of us reach our orgasm at the same time, our guttural roars and subsequent moans filling the air around us.

When I pull out, I lie down next to him while we catch our breath.

After a few minutes, he says, “Together forever until death parts ussounds a lot like marriage vows.”

“It’s definitely a vow,” I say. “Where you go, I go.”

“And where you go, I’ll follow.”

I turn to my side to face him. “I mean it, Kaspian. Our only end is death. I will not do this life without you.”

“I never planned on leaving you.”

“It’s not even in the realm of possibility now. If you ever feel like you want to get away from me, then I guess the tables will turn and it’ll be time for me to follow you across the goddamn states.”

He snorts. “I like toxic men.”

I arch a brow. “Men?”

Kaspian laughs. “You’re acting like me.”

“See? Normal couple stuff. You’re rubbing off on me.”

He grabs my hand. “I love you, Quin. I know you don’t believe in it, but our love doesn’t have to be flowers and typical romantic gestures. What’s romance to us isn’t what normal people think about. You went on a fucking killing spree for me. We’ve killed people for each other. You cut me, and I allow itbecause of how I feel about you. You let me cut you. Why? You planned a trip for me because I wanted it. Words don’t mean anything, Quin. Actions do.” He smiles and leans over to kiss me. “Our love story may end in tragedy, and I’m okay with that. If you die, whether you’re forty-five or eighty, I’ll kill myself next to your body. There is no life without you. No reason to go on. No happiness. No excitement.”

“A tragedy,” I muse. “I suppose that makes sense for us.” I brush his hair away from his eyes. “But let’s try to put off the tragic ending for as long as possible.”

“So, no more road trips?” he asks with a forced pout.

“Not for a while. And if and when we do anything, there will be plans and rules in place.” I level him with a look.

“I’ll be a good boy.”

But the wicked glint in his eyes and the tiny smirk on his lips tells me otherwise.
