“Momma, I saw Speedand his friends!” I heard as no sooner than the door opened. I walked out the kitchen to greet my daughter and Carly who wore a huge ass smile.

“Did you? Where did you run into him, baby?

“Ats the bakery. He said he’d see ya soon. Did yous clean for Papa and Uncle Reed?”

“Yes. Why don’t you go upstairs and play a little before you have to go to Mrs. Mayson’s house and I have to go to work.” Ally ran up the stairs, and I looked at the now smirking Carly.

“You seem in a good mood today?”

“Sure am, but I would think you would be in a better mood since you’re the one who got to have a sleepover the other night.”

Well, shit.

“Sami, relax. I’m not going to go off because you slept with Ally’s dad or that he spent time with her. My issues are my issues. I don’t want you hurt that’s all, but I have to say, seeing them together and the way he looked at her and listened. How all of them listened to her, though I admit the ‘my ears are bleeding looks’ were amusing to me, they already have accepted her. And I will support any decision you make in regards to him.” Her words only made me love her more.

I wasn’t going to share what I had found out about him with her, not when she was letting her misgivings go a little. I saw the old Carly showing through. The one before we moved here because her dad had pulled his shit. No way was I going to tamper with that.

“We’ll see. You staying a while?” She hadn’t moved from the door.

“No, going home to catch a little sleep. Switched a couple shifts so I could have some time to spend with your dad when he comes.”

“Don’t forget Reed is coming too.”

“Who could forget that.” She turned and opened the door. “I won’t see you till Saturday. And by the way, Speed did say to tell you he would see you later. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” She walked out and then yelled over her shoulder, “Oh, I forgot, you already have.”

“Bitch.”

“You know it.” She laughed and got in her truck and drove off.

What I wanted to tell her was I wasn’t going to be doing anything, ‘cause I had no plans to be used. Sharing Ally, fine, but I had no intention of being part of the deal. I didn’t care that I heard a motorcycle and looked out the window to see him driving by last night. And I had no intention of sharing the fact I thought it was sweet when I saw him at the cemetery standing in front of a headstone, which I figured was his dad’s, right after he came back as I was driving home that day. Nope, not sharing any of that. Satisfied, I closed the door, a little nap sounded good before I had to go to work. Maybe Ally would lay down too.

Speed

Soft Tails was busywhen we parked our bikes and headed in. Tank and Rock were talking at the door when we entered.

“Brothers,” they both said at the same time when they saw us.

“Hey, guys. Club’s busy tonight. How you doing?”

“Good, Speed. You going to do right by our girls?” My eyebrow went up, and Crusher slapped my back.

“News sure does travel fast through the club these days.” Everyone chuckled at Crusher’s observation.

“Glad you men have been watching after them, but I think you meant my girls, Tank.”

The smile split his face, and he stuck out his hand, “She’s in her office.” I took it for what it was meant for, brothers looking out for each other and their families.

We walked through to find a table and some of the members I hadn’t seen since Church saluted us with their beers as we walked by.

“Hey, Speed.” Roscoe had stopped me before I’d gotten halfway across the floor. He was sitting with a few of the club’s older members.

I slapped him on the back, “How’s life treating you, Roscoe?”

“Good, Speed. You going to do right by my girl?” Christ, on the one hand I was glad to see my brothers cared but this ‘my girl and our girls’ was going to get old, I just knew it.

“Roscoe, glad you care about her, but that would be ‘my girl’ not yours.” The men sitting at the table with him snickered. And Roscoe winked.

“That’s what I wanted to hear.” I slapped his back again and started to the empty table in the back, it would give me a great view of the whole club, and I would see Sami whenever she walked through.
