Chapter Nine
Flirt
––––––––
As I walked out ofthe house, the others were doing the same, and we converged in the middle of the road.
“Think we should knock on Coast’s door?” Jag asked.
“Nah, I’m sure he’ll show up,” I said and started walking. No way I was going to be the one to interrupt him, considering how long it had taken him to finally get Mac inside his house.
“I hope he doesn’t think he got Mac to his house without anyone noticing,” Speed said and shook his head. “Ally hears the sound of pipes, and she is in her window. Took her less than five seconds to run downstairs to tell Sami that Mac was on the back of Coast’s bike.”
“Because she is nosey like her aunt. Carly does the same shit, and since the house sits at the end, I’m surprised her nose print isn’t on all the windows,” Crusher said and laughed.
“What’s wrong with you, Dev?” I asked when I noticed he hadn’t said anything, and for Devil, that was very unusual.
“Brother, you still can’t be mad,” Speed said, and Devil sneered at him.
My lips twitched, but I held off my laughter and asked, “What has you mad, man?”
“I missed the UFC match last night,’ he grouched.
“Oh yeah, I heard on the radio coming home it was an outstanding showdown. Both fighters were equally matched, and it went down to the wire,” I mentioned as we reached the clubhouse and waited for Crusher to unlock the backdoor, then I asked, “How did you miss it? Every day for the last month, that’s all they talked about on the radio or TV.”
Jag snorted and earned himself a sneer from our brother. Whatever had Devil upset had to be good.
“Since Neely got in trouble at school for punching that little jerkoff, Bailey wouldn’t let me turn the fight on last night. Not sure how my sister getting in trouble turns into me getting punished in my house but go figure. I was planning to go to one of their freaking houses to watch it; however, the warden had already told the other women,” Devil explained, and I wasn’t able to hold in the laughter any longer.
We were still laughing when we stopped inside the clubhouse for Crusher to unlock the doors to the large room that had been renovated specifically to handle a full member Church. Today would be just the six of us.
“I wasn’t home, but why didn’t you use your key and go to my house and watch the fight?” I brought up as we walked into the room once the double doors were opened.
“Sonofabitch!” Devil said as he walked past me, pulled out a seat at the table, and plopped down on it. Then he dropped his forehead onto the surface. “How could I forget that?”
I pulled out a chair along with the others, and we joined Devil at the table. “Brother, do you really want one of us to answer that?” I asked, and the others chuckled when Devil flipped a finger without raising his head.
After a few more minutes of giving Devil a hard time, the door opened, and Coast walked in.
“Well, look who decided to join us. Takes a week off, then saunters in all loose hipped,” Jag said, and the rest of us laughed.
“Yeah, you’d think he’d be wearing a smile instead of a scowl,” Devil added.
