Chapter Three

Flirt

––––––––

Even knowing I wasearly, I started scanning the area as soon as I stepped through the main door and into Whispering Nights.

“Anyone, in particular, you’re looking for, Max,” was said behind me, followed by a chuckle.

I turned. “You know I liked it better when Stella was here to keep you occupied. You weren’t left with time to harass me and the others.”

“Ha! See how much attention you pay. I don’t harass the others in the club. I save it up for when I see you, my friend.” Mark stuck his hand out, and taking it with mine, we shook.

“Don’t I feel special,” I said as we walked further into the club. We reached an area out of the way of the other members but still in a position to see the entrance and everything else going on in the club on the main floor.

“You should. Not everyone gets my vast knowledge shared with them.”

“You’re in a good mood. Stella must be around. Where is she? In your office?” I said and made another sweep of the area with my eyes looking for Mark’s wife, which was a sign I wasn’t thinking correctly. If Stella was in the club and not in Mark’s office, she would have been by his side. No submissive in a relationship with a Dom would be running loose in the club either. They were only allowed to be in certain sections of the club.

“Not tonight. Tomorrow will be her first time back to the club since having Chrissy. She finally found a babysitter she trusts for longer than a trip to the grocery store. The young woman is scheduled to watch Chrissy tomorrow night. I have to admit I haven’t been this excited since...well, I can’t remember,” Mark said and laughed at himself.

“You’re finally getting your sub back, man. You have the right to be excited.”

“It’s more than that, Max. I’m getting my wife back. Don’t get me wrong, I love my little girl and wouldn’t trade having her for anything, but I’ve missed my wife. It’s been a learning experience on how to multitask being parents to Chrissy without losing us as a couple in the process.”

“If my brothers can do it, I’m sure you can, too.”

“Months ago if you would have said that I’m not sure I would have agreed. But I think Stella and I have finally started getting the parents’ thing down.”

“I would love to be faced with the same problems one day,” I said and meant it more than I thought I ever would.

“Hey, who knows, maybeshe’llbe what you’re looking for,” Mark said, and I followed where he was looking.

Gabriella stood inside the entrance as if anyone made the wrong move, she would bolt. Not a chance I was going to let that happen.

“Coast said the same to me earlier,” I answered and took a step in Gabriella’s direction along with Mark following beside me.

“Then you should listen. Two of us cannot be wrong. I’m just sorry I didn’t get the chance to grill you on how the tour went. Then again, after you walked her out, you never did make it back inside the club.”

“There is nothing to grill me about. She got a text and had to leave. I set a time up with her for us to meet tonight, and here she is. I’m sure there is someone else you could or need to check in with. Don’t let me keep you,” I said as we walked across the room while I kept my eyes on Gabriella. Out of my peripheral vision, I noticed several of the Doms scattered around the area had their eyes focused on Gabriella, too.

Mark chuckled. “I think I’ll say hello to Gabriella if you don’t mind. Considering this is my club and all.”

“By all means...just don’t stick around.”

“Hmm...that response is interesting. Especially coming from you.” I heard the humor in Mark’s voice, and it annoyed me. The response was meant to goad me, and I knew it. It was working, too.
