She nodded, cheeks flushed. She looked beautiful, and I reminded myself to hold back my inner caveman till we got to the room. I kept my libido on a tight rein as we walked down the hallway and tapped the card on the door. When the light turned green, I stood back for Jess to go first.

I took a moment to admire her ass as she walked to the bedroom. No one had ever come back for me. But Jess had. I’d make sure she never left again.

“Coming?” Jess had pulled off her Blaze T-shirt, revealing a black lace push-up bra.

A jolt of lust pulsed straight to my dick. “You will be.”

She snorted. I unbuttoned my shirt as I stalked toward her. With a smirk on her face, she tapped her wrist. “Time’s a wasting.”

“Never.”

After I’d kept my promise and made her come, twice, I ordered room service. Jess was staring at me, a serious expression on her face. She’d pulled on my shirt, ignoring the tourist tee she’d bought in the gift shop. She looked good in it. I’d like her to be in my clothes all the time.

“I’m serious, you know. I’m ready to go all in,” she said.

There was a lump in my throat. “It kind of scares me. I haven’t done this, let someone in, in a long time.”

She ran a hand over my jaw. “I get it. But I’m not walking away. I’ve paid my obligations, and I’m going to give this my everything.”

It was too late to back out. I wasn’t ready to say the words out loud, but I loved this woman. I wouldn’t let her walk away.

I dropped the shirt I’d been folding into my suitcase and narrowed my eyes at Alek. He was stretched out on my bed, phone in hand, watching the hockey trading news come through.

“Seattle, eh?”

He nodded then looked up at me, grinning. “Apparently they wanted to trade for Ducky before he got injured. They kept the roster they had for the rest of the season but they still need scoring. Now they want me.”

I crossed my arms. “And the fact that Seattle is next door to Vancouver, where I need to spend some time this summer, is just a coincidence?”

He smirked. “That might have factored into my decision.” He pushed himself up off the bed and crossed to me, wrapping his arms around my waist. “I’d do a lot to make you happy. But they did have the best offer.”

I rubbed his chest with my hands. “Maybe I can get a job based out of Vancouver that I could work partly remotely?”

His hands moved to mine and gripped them tightly. “About that. I had an idea.”

I squinted at him. I knew that tone. That was the can I talk you into this voice. I’d heard it many times over the past month and a half. To be fair, I’d talked him into a few things as well. Like the EdgeWalk on the CN tower. Turned out someone wasn’t good with those heights, and that someone wasn’t me. “Okay, what is it?”

“What if…you didn’t get a job in Vancouver.”

I frowned. “I don’t think I can work in the US.”

“I know. What if you didn’t work?”

My eyes opened wide. “If I didn’t work, then what would I do?”
