“What feeling, baby?”

“Like I’d met the man I was going to spend my life with. Like he was going to be worth all the heartache.”

He smiled. “No more heartache. We’re together now, and that’s all that matters.”

“I love you, Myles St. James.”

“I love you.” He tugged my head down and kissed me.

It was needy and fevered and desperate.

Like two souls that had been kept apart and finally reunited.

My fingers tangled in his hair as I tried to pull him closer.

Wanting.

Needing.

Mine.

Chapter ThirtyMyles

“I can’t say I’ve ever gone around the table saying what my hopes are for the new year, but I like it,” Samuel said as he flashed me that cocky smirk of his.

Yes, I was hosting Christmas dinner with my girlfriend.

Hello, my name is Myles St. James, and I am no longer an eternal bachelor.

I have a girlfriend.

A woman I love so fiercely, I’d throw my body in front of hers if she was in danger.

Mind you, I prefer to keep us both alive so I can continue making her cry out my name every fucking night.

But I’m that sappy guy now. I don’t even mind hosting holiday dinners for family and friends. I even spend time thinking about the perfect gift to get her.

Montana Kingsley is the epitome of “my better half.”

She completed me in a way I didn’t know I needed.

She made me want to be a better man and all that corny bullshit.

“Just answer the damn question,” I grumped.

“And clearly the Grinch has arrived at the table,” Samuel said as laughter filled the room.

We were in the dining room at the home I’d purchased, one I was trying to convince Montana to move in to with me.

“My hopes for the new year are easy. I’m marrying the love of my life.” He paused and kissed Brianna on the cheek. “So making this woman my wife is at the top of the list, and I don’t know, maybe she’ll agree to let us start filling our home with miniature versions of her.”

Everyone oohed and aahed. I pretended to gag, because Samuel had become quite the sappy pussy since he’d quit his doctoring gig.

As much as I teased him and gave him a hard time—I loved seeing my brother so happy. He was doing an amazing job at the St. James Corp., and our partnership had proved to be the best decision for both of us.

“Okay, only one person left to go,” Montana said as she beamed up at me.

I smirked, looking around the table at all the people who’d come to celebrate with us. My mother and Gino, who were now officially dating and had flown in this morning with Samuel and Brianna. And then we had Daniel, Howard, and Lydia, who were now retired and thrilled that Montana had taken over hosting the holidays. Benji had finally agreed to come and close the bar for the night, after I’d threatened to drive over there and drag him here. Charlie was here with his little girl, Harper. Blakely and her sister, Brynn, were here to round out the group.
