“Easy, pet. I’m not going to fuck you.” He stops licking my bite long enough to nibble my ear with his wicked little teeth, which makes me tremble and him sigh. “At least, not tonight, not when we’re both dead on our feet, and not before we’ve had a chance to explain all this to Ronin, and I suppose also to Zara. But I am going to make you climax for me before I send you off to sleep. I’m going to make you climax for me so hard you shout my name to the rafters and your legs buckle with pleasure and you can’t stand without me holding you up. Would you like that?”

I’m hardly in any state to protest and, for better or worse, this young demon who’s currently seducing me is scarcely in the mood to wait.

Deftly he opens the buttons of my trousers and draws me out. I’m rigid nearly to spilling in his hand, the head of my shaft already dripping for him. He purrs with approval and starts to work my length with his sinfully skillful fingers.

My pelvis punches forward into his fist. A low needy moan spills out of me.

“This isn’t going to take very long, is it?” he whispers in my ear. “Just relax and let me take care of you.”

And I discover to my utter disgrace that I’ve lost every particle of desire to protest.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Zara

Something soft and silky is tickling my sleeping face.

And I know even before opening my eyes, just from the yummy aroma of bergamot soap and wolf and the mingled essence of my mating scent and Vasili’s, that what’s brushing my face is Ronin’s hair.

His hot naked limbs are entwined with mine under an ocean of blankets in my canopy bed. This setup is even hotter because I’m half naked myself, just wearing panties and Lucius’ button-down shirt, which I never returned to him and somehow like sleeping in. And, for maximum hotness, I’m half buried in the fat mattress because Neo’s sprawled over both of us, also sleeping, his face mashed against the back of Ronin’s shoulder.

Which is so freaking adorable I just lie there grinning, in the sappiest way, in the soft light that’s leaking through the frosty glass.

Then I notice that glass is piled high with snowdrifts. Judging by the quality of the light, I forgot to set the alarm on my dive watch before I crashed.

Which means we’re all three going to be massively late for Lucius’ Common Magics class.

“Shit,” I whisper.

“Mmmm.” Ronin sighs into my neck and snuggles closer. I would never have taken this guy for a snuggler during our famous hate sex hookup in Singapore, but he totally is. And what with his fire gift and his mating heat and the low-grade fever that’s apparently normal body temp for a Leo like him, he’s keeping all three of us toasty.

“I honestly hate to say this,” I murmur, “but we have to get up. We’re super late for class.”

That brings Neo’s head up from Ronin’s shoulder, magenta hair falling into confused eyes as he blinks at the snow-covered window.

“Delayed start… because snow,” Neo mumbles. “Dean called th’ landline last night.”

This message relayed, my sleepy mate’s head flops back down to Ronin’s shoulder and his eyes drift closed.

That’s a double shot of adorable right there.

Class or no class, I feel like I really ought to get up, because I do have a dry suit to test and a caper to plan. You know, my wholeEscape from Alcatrazcaper? But I have to admit it’s really… nice… being snuggled up here like this with the two of them. Right now I’m actually more worried that something yummy might’ve gone down last night between my guys without me getting to watch than I’m worried about getting off this rock.

That alone should worry me more than anything else.

“Gotta stop thinking so bloody loud, love,” Ronin mutters into my neck. “You’ll wake the blooming neighbors.”

By which he means, once Neo’s a little more awake, he’ll pick up that I’m making solid plans to vamoose. Then my wonderful mate who’s so devoted to my happiness will be totally devastated, and it’ll be all my fault.

Of course, Vasili warned me just yesterday that if I’mnotstill planning to abdicate and vamoose,he’ll start scheming to take me out.

For good.

I can’t help wondering whether, after everything that went down with the three of us last night, Vasili still feels that way?

Because I don’t actually know if he’s my lover now or my enemy.

Then there’s Lucius, my more-or-less kidnapper, who firmly insists that I stay—butnotso we can explore this incredibly powerful connection that’s growing between us. Nope, he’s hellbent on keeping that whole teacher-student barrier not only rock-solid but sky-high, and making me summon lightning.
