I nod. ‘With who?’
‘Mad Dog. Will you be ready?’
I grin, already anticipating it. ‘I'll be ready.’
The last ball rolls into the corner pocket and Vic puts his cue down on the table.
‘Be out of the common rooms later,’ he advises. ‘Bunch of humans will be here setting up for the party tonight.’
I sigh.Great.
Vic goes back into his study, closing the door and I turn on the TV, flicking through the channels for a while but nothing holds my attention for more than a few minutes. I turn it off and wander into the kitchen. Two of the on-call girls are in there talking. They go quiet when they see me.
‘The fuck you doing up here?’ I growl.
‘We're sorry,’ the redhead murmurs, backing away towards their apartment downstairs. ‘We didn’t know you were here.’
I let out a snarl and laugh as they scurry back to the basement. They make sure they're never alone with me either. Paris is always there when I need to feed, making sure I don't accidentally go too far. Even now, I'm overcome with the desire to follow them and wring their little necks. I grab a water from the fridge, and head down to the gym instead, closing myself in. Turning the volume on the sound system all the way up, I put on something loud with a good bass to drown out the anger and the fury that I feel anytime I'm around humans … mostly human females.
They always look so fucking vulnerable. Like butter wouldn't melt. The truth is they're the vilest monsters of them all; worse than dryads, sirens, and witches combined. They're just easier to kill.
I start hitting the pads, the only way I can work out my anger that doesn't involve killing. Murder is still murder if they find a body, even when it's human scum. I punch the bags until it's time to get ready for the party and I’m sure the humans who were here setting up are gone.
We're about to spend the next few hours being congratulated by everyone who made money last night. The entire Club will be here plus business associates and friends. There'll be wagers made for the next fight already.
I stare at myself in the mirror. I’m not looking forward to it one bit. Odds are I’ll last an hour before I go out looking for the potential border break that’s letting outsiders catch a glimpse of what goes on up here. Maybe Paris has even found it already, and we can go close it together. My dick hardens at that thought. His mouth felt so good last night, I’m aching for a repeat performance of my lover pleasuring me on his knees in the woods.

Vic
I'm sittingin my office, a contract in front of me, when I hear the front door slam hard.
‘Get. The fuck. Upstairs,’ Paris says loudly and then I hear a whimper and the telltale creaks of someone running up them.
Paris enters the study a second later.
‘What happened?’ I ask, wondering what’s got the usually happy-go-lucky Paris so pissed off.
‘Took her to her apartment to get her stuff. She tried to give me the slip. Found her an hour later in a café a mile or so down the road. Dumb bitch was charging her phone. Pinged me as soon as it came on. If you're going to contract her to us, do it today. She'll keep trying. Lock her in. Make sure she knows she can't get away.’
Shit, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Paris so worked up, but I nod. ‘That's the plan. Where is she now?’
‘Sent her to her room in tears like a naughty little girl.’
Fuck … when he calls her that … I was going to try and resist her until after Sie had taken her for himself, but now I can't get the image of her on her knees in front of me, looking up at me with those beautiful brown eyes.
I see Paris smirking in front of me and I know he chose his words on purpose. I shake my head, but I give him a grin. ‘Sit the fuck down. I have a job for you to do asap.’
Still looking amused, he takes a seat.
‘Korban thinks we have a hole.’
Paris puts his game face on immediately, his relaxed demeanor melting away like it was never there. He’s all business now.
‘What happened?’
‘Callaghan knew about the new girl last night at the fight. Thankfully, he thinks she's already contracted to the club, so anyone else who knows she’s here will probably assume the same. There’s no way anyone could know about this already. We've either got a break in the perimeter or a spy. Shore up the border spells and check the tech security before the party starts.’
