‘Well, I’mnotmade that way!’ I snap.
He doesn't seem to understand what I'm saying, so I say it again slower.
‘I don’t want yourbliss,’ I say out loud.
He snorts like he doesn’t believe me. ‘Stop playing hard to get. It doesn’t suit you.’
‘You don’t know me.’ I scowl, taking a step towards the door. ‘I’m not like other girls.’
I cringe because I sound like one of those girls who think they’re so cool and edgy and different andbetterthan other girls somehow. Except that Iamdifferent. It’s just not the cool and edgy kind at all. And I’m not better. I’m worse.
‘What I mean is,’ I tap my temple and I give him a look. Am I really going to spell it out? ‘C’mon. You must be able to tell,’ I say, suddenly feeling close to tears again and it’s not from anger or fear this time … I don’t know what it’s from.
‘You can see I'm not the same.’
I look away, my voice feeling like it’s going to break if I talk again and give me away. I don’t want him to see me crying.
‘I can make you want it,’ he threatens.
I sigh heavily and cast my eyes back to him, forcing my words to be even and strong. ‘After I've signed your contract, do whatever the hell you want. Until then, don’t fucking touch me.’
He looks surprised, and then a grin spreads across his face. ‘Alright,’ he says, ‘I can play by your rules, Little Spy.’
The door is flung open at that precise moment and Theo’s standing in the doorway. He looks me over first. His eyes taking in my clothes, perhaps the fact that I'm still dressed.
He sneers at Korban. ‘What the fuck are you doing in here?’
Korban shrugs. ‘Check your cameras and find out.’
My eyes widen and dart around the room. ‘Cameras?’
Theo’s eyes narrow at Korban. ‘Get the fuck out!’
Korban chuckles as he saunters into the hallway. ‘See you after you’ve signed, Girl. You better be ready for me.’
‘Do your job right, Sex Demon, and I will be,’ I return with more bravado than I actually feel, and I hear him laugh from down the corridor.

Theo
Kor leaves the room,a shit-eating grin on his face that I’d love to smack off it.
He has me nervous. Though I'd never admit it out loud, my fingers are tapping a mile a minute on the pad of the stethoscope in my pocket. I look over at the new girl. She's not meeting my eyes but this time it’s not because she’s afraid of my power. She looks even more on-edge than she was before. She seems ok, but my eyes cut to the door Kor just disappeared through.
‘Did he hurt you?’ I ask.
She looks surprised by the question but gives a little shake of her head.
I don’t believe her. ‘You have to tell me if he has.’
She shakes her head again and goes into the bathroom, closing the door. Guess our conversation is over.
My phone buzzes and I look down at it. Vic wants us in the study for a meeting. This can only be about her.
I smother a grin at my childish excitement as I make my way downstairs. The other guys are already there, the room looking tiny as all five of us crowd inside. Usually we do this in the games room where there’s more space.
Vic throws the bolt, locking us in, and no one says anything, eyeing our president expectantly as he walks around the room to sit behind the desk.
