“Not a chance.”

“Even if we live until we’re—”

“One hundred and ten?” She laughed. “Not even then.”

He tilted her chin and placed a lingering kiss on her lips—first sweetly, then inevitably with hunger, making sparks of passion jump across her skin. She climbed onto his lap and kissed him back even as the shopkeeper’s bell announced the arrival of new customers. Reality could wait for a few minutes. She was busy living her dream with her love… her best friend… her forever.

EPILOGUE

ONE YEAR LATER

“How far apart are the contractions?” Jack asked.

“About fifteen minutes,” Lizzy said after a brief glance at her phone.

“When do you start pushing?” He wasn’t quite hyperventilating… yet.

She cast a worried glance his way. “When the contractions are about five minutes apart, I think.”

“Shit. We’re not going to make it.”

“Yes, we are,” she assured him.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to drive?” he asked for the tenth time in as many minutes.

“No.” She scoffed. “You are in no condition to drive.”

“I’m not the one who’s having a baby,” he practically shouted. “My sister is.”

“Well, you’re still in no condition to drive, Uncle Jack.”

“Oh, my God. I’m going to be an uncle.”

Just as Jack went into a shocked stupor and quieted forthe first time in nearly four hours, they crossed the city line into Weldon. Lizzy smiled as she drove through the beloved town—on their way to meet a new member for their family. Her sister-in-law had sounded happy and confident when they’d spoken a few hours earlier, but poor Jack was still worried about his little sister. Fortunately, Lizzy pulled into the parking lot of Weldon’s one and only medical center before long.

The waiting room was filled with every Park and Kim in Weldon. Her in-laws and Seth’s mom were huddled close together in the corner, talking and laughing quietly. Alex was sitting at the opposite corner, rocking back and forth. Landon, Seth’s older brother and Aubrey’s husband, was pacing the room at whirlwind speed, while Aubrey sat reading calmly to their adorable toddler, occasionally glancing up at her husband with an indulgent smile.

Lizzy went first to her in-laws and Mrs. Kim to say hello. Jack followed close behind her, relatively calm but fidgety. As they were checking in with the rest of the gang, Seth walked into the waiting room.

Landon rushed over to him and put a hand on his shoulder. “Everything is going to be fine.”

“I know,” Seth said evenly.

“I’ve done this before. Trust me,” Landon persisted, and Aubrey snorted from her seat.

“I know, Hyung,” Seth repeated. “I just came out to make sure you and Alex were okay.”

“Of course we’re okay. Why wouldn’t we be okay?” Landon wheezed.

“Well, you guys seemed pretty freaked out when you first came to the hospital.” Seth watched Alex muttering to himself in the corner with a frown.

“Seth, how is Tara doing?” Lizzy asked after giving him a hug.

“Oh, you know. Being her usual amazing self.” Seth’s smile was a little dreamy. “She wants to build an altar for epidurals and make sacrificial beer offerings.”

“I’ll be sure to offer up some sweets as well,” Aubrey chimed in. “That stuff is the best.”

“Take care of the big guy for me?” Seth asked his sister-in-law.
