She held up a hand. “Okay, calm down. The only reason I did was because I was coming to check on you after everyone else decided to call it a night. But I didn’t make it halfway there before it became clear that you were being well taken care of. Side note: if you were faking it, you’re really good; you had me convinced.”

“No, I wasn’t faking it,” I snarked. That had never been an issue with Tucker. “But like I said, we didn’t have sex. He only went down on me.”

“If that’s all it was, why did you go home with him instead of spending the night here?”

That question made me wonder what else she had kept from me about Tucker’s life here in Rust Canyon since my departure.

“Have you been to his house, Aspen?”

She shook her head slowly. “No, but Mac has. Why?”

Crossing the room, I rifled through the bookshelf in the corner, wondering if our old dream scrapbook was still there.

“What are you looking for?” Aspen’s footsteps stopped behind me.

My fingers traced the spine of the book filled with every idea we’d once had for our futures, and I pulled it from the shelf.

Aspen saw it, and she breathed out softly, “Oh my God. I forgot about that.”

I laughed. “Safe to say none of your wedding plans came from here, then.”

“Only thing that stayed the same was getting married here on the ranch.”

I couldn’t blame her. The land her family owned was beautiful, featuring multiple locations perfect for a wedding backdrop.

Sitting back on my heels, I flipped the pages until I found the one I was searching for. Spreading the scrapbook wide, I tapped a finger on themagazine cutouts pieced together to form the interior of my dream home. “This is Tucker’s house.”

“What?” Aspen’s brows furrowed as Penny stepped closer to get a peek. “You’re not making any sense.”

“He built it.”

Her blue eyes lifted from the page. “Are you serious?”

Swallowing, I nodded. “Every detail is exactly how I always wanted it.”

“Bex, this is . . .” Her words trailed off, and she swiped at her nose with the back of her hand as a sniffle sounded.

“That house is an apology, a love letter, and a promise all rolled into one.”

Penny clasped her hands to her chest. “That’s so romantic.”

“God damn that Tucker Grant.” Aspen let out a watery laugh. “Making all the other men look bad.”

She had that right. Nothing any other man could ever do for me would ever measure up.

Closing the scrapbook, I slid it back into its spot and stood.

I grabbed Aspen’s hands in mine, squeezing gently. “You found a pretty good man yourself.”

A tear finally spilled over onto her cheek. “Yeah.”

“Let’s get you married.”

Chapter 19

Tucker

“IthinkI’mgoingto pass out.” Mac tugged at the collar of his dress shirt. “Will you catch me if I do?”
