"The thing is, Savannah, and this all comes down to you and who you are, he was right. I fell in love with you. With your zest for life and your curiosity. With how you treat others and are trying so hard to put your past behind you."

"You changed everything for me, princess. I love you. Please, come back to me."

I bring out the ring and get down on one knee in front of her. She puts her hands over her mouth, muffling her gasp of surprise.

"Will you marry me, Savannah?"

She gets up from the bench, tears streaming down her beautiful face, and I just know what the answer will be, and I'm not going to like it.

"I'm sorry, Brock."

All I see is her back as she runs back to the safety of the coffee shop where she now works. I'm still on bended knee and at a lossfor what to do. I close the ring box and put it back in my pocket. I love this woman, and I'm more certain than ever that we will make our life together. All I need to do is get her to forgive me.

It takes me three months of having coffee every single day in Woodland Falls until Savannah finally starts to let me in again. It became a routine where I’d stop by during her lunch hour, and we'd have lunch together.

Savannah's whole demeanor has changed in those three months. She's now self-assured, quick to laugh, and always making friends. I'm almost regretting that she'll have to leave Woodland Falls, but not enough to keep me from asking her to marry me again.

This time, I do it publicly, during our lunch. I bring in a dozen red roses and get down on one knee. I offer her the ring, and this time, there's a smile on her face.

"Will you marry me, princess?"

"Yes!"

I hurry to put the ring on her. It's a simple band with a beautiful round diamond that sparkles like Savannah's eyes are sparkling right now. Getting up, I hold her hand and give her a soft kiss on the lips. Everyone in the coffee shop, which is uncharacteristically full of patrons, cheers as we smile and cry at the same time.

"I love you, Savannah."

"I love you, too, Brock. I'm ready to be your wife."

"We're going to have an amazing life together, you and I, princess."

Chapter 11

Savannah

It's a beautiful afternoon for a birthday party. My hot-as-fuck mountain man is turning thirty-six, and I can't wait to celebrate with family and friends. I've become fast friends with Brock's uncle, but only after he apologized profusely for having a part in the whole contract thing.

He's actually manning the grill because I don't want the birthday boy to do it. I want him to enjoy this day to the fullest. We're getting married around Christmas this year over at Woodland Falls, and I'm bursting out of my seams from excitement.

Sam and Erika have become my besties, and we get together at least once a week to gossip and just have fun. And I dohave fun with everything I do. I've been trying out hobbies, but nothing seems to stick just yet. I did crochet and quilting, and scrapbooking so far.

Brock doesn't complain one bit about the mess I make with every new project, and he encourages me to try anything and everything. When it comes down to toasting the birthday boy, I'm the first one in line.

"Everyone, thank you so much for taking the time to come celebrate with us. Today is an amazing day because it's Brock's birthday. Yes, he's getting older, and he's already ranted quite a bit about that earlier in the day, but I just think he's getting better with age."

"I'm so lucky to be here with him and to soon become his wife."

Cheers burst out all around us, and I blush because, hell yeah, I'm getting married to this hot, sexy man who saved my life. We spend the rest of the party holding hands and whispering naughty words to one another.

So it's no surprise to me that when everyone leaves, Brock pulls me over his shoulder and takes me inside the house. I burst into a fit of giggles and am almost dizzy with joy. He finally puts me down in the kitchen and lifts me up onto the counter.

"I've been wanting a taste of you all afternoon, princess."

"Oh yeah?"

"And you with this skirt. All I could think about was how easy it would be to just lift it up and take you from behind while everyone was laughing and celebrating around us."

He grabs my ankles and starts moving his hands up and up. He doesn't know I have an unexpected surprise for him.
