But thanks to Rhett’s kiss, I already knew—without the research, and without the porn—that I was attracted to a man, and that I wanted to explore that feeling.

Maybe I’d failed to get through to Brian. But I could do this.

I could take the reins of my own sex life and figure out what I wanted, once and for all.

RHETT

CuriousLizard:Want to meet up?

The message came from a new match. I’d been approving guys for the past few days without bothering to take a close look at their profiles. But this name made me think of Ethan and his lizard.

I shifted in bed, still groggy from a late afternoon nap. I should be studying, but I wasn’t ready to confront all the work waiting for me just yet. Instead, I scrolled to CuriousLizard’s profile.

It read:Geeky but okay-looking guy curious about this guy-guy stuff. Top? Bottom? Both? Neither? I don’t know. My lizard and I are here to figure it out. (The lizard that lives in my pants, that is.)

I snorted a laugh and skimmed his pics. He was slim, not a lot of muscle, but decently toned. No face, but if he was new to all this, he was probably shy about announcing his identity. I didn’t show my face either, but only because it wasn’t my best attribute. My chest and abs got more attention.

This guy could totally be Ethan. The thought jolted through me like electricity—until I remembered that there was a whole contingent of geeks on here with weird names. I’d come across a LizardLovr before, as well as a SnakeCharmer.

Ethan’s straight, I reminded myself. He’d never be on this app. And if hewascurious about being with a guy, I wasrightthere. He could just ask. But given the way he’d been behaving around me since the kiss, I was pretty sure he was weirded out, not turned on, by what happened with us.

CuriousLizard was a fast mover, requesting a meetup right out of the gate. Not much like Ethan after all. Ethan was methodical, always doing his research before he acted. I’d once watched him read reviews for nearly an hour before settling on a Chinese restaurant for take-out. I smiled at the memory, though at the time I’d been starving and pissed off.Who the hell does that?I’d wondered.

But enough thinking about Ethan. I did a little too much of that these days.

I’d opened the app to get back into the game. To stop fixating on that kiss and the ensuing awkwardness. I needed to get on with it.

Still lying in bed, I tapped out a reply.

EasyLay:Don’t you want to know my major first? ;)

CuriousLizard:I’m so sorry! Your name is EasyLay and everyone on this app is so direct. I didn’t think I’d have to flirt. I’m not very good at it… So, what’s your major?

How adorably awkward. He didn’t seem to catch on that I was mostly joking. He wasn’t the first, or even the tenth guy to want to get straight to business. I might have expected something different based on his name and profile—which had had me thinking of Ethan—but that wasn’t his fault.

EasyLay:My major isn’t important. I was teasing you. But you seem new to the app. You sure you want to meet up?

CuriousLizard:Yes! I really need to get this over with before I lose the courage.

EasyLay:Way to flatter a guy…

Maybe this was a bad idea. Hooking up with a guy wouldn’t solve my roommate problems. Although if it solved my Ethan fantasy problems, then maybe it was worth a shot…

My phone chimed with another message.

CuriousLizard:That sounded awful. Sorry. I don’t mean you’d be a chore or anything. You look really cute in your pics. Your chest and abs, anyway. That’s all I can see. But I’m guessing the rest of you matches.

EasyLay:Thanks…I think.

CuriousLizard:I’m so bad at this! I’ve probably already scared you away.

Something about his responses tugged at my heartstrings. He was clearly out of his depth.

EasyLay:Nah, you just need some practice.

CuriousLizard:So, will you meet me then?
