“Fascinating,” Erin responded to Riley’s revelation about the blue orb.

And dangerous.

“Allow me to look into this,” she added.

“Thanks.” He nibbled on his bottom lip.

“Is he being hunted?” Isaac asked.

“I’m not sure. Let me think about it.”

The Sun rubbed his brother’s back.

If only my hand could take its place.

Ollie arrived with two plastic boxes filled with potions and various bits and pieces.

“Thank you, son,” Erin said warmly. “How are the Brambles?”

He set them down beside the cauldron. “They’re good. Shaking off the lingering effects. They’ll be up soon.” He looked at Riley. “You’re back to normal?”

The Moon nodded. “Yeah.”

“Cool.”

Erin glanced at me. “Let’s get started.”

The cover was heavily worn, several of the pages torn out after a fight between the previous triplets. Erin didn’t elaborate, but she said it was bad.

My family.

Okay, we’re not goingthereyet.

The voice of that damn blue orb echoed in my mind. No strangler this time, but the arsehole took me into a blue room where it floated, spouting its crap. My scar ached, which only made my brain hurt.

Why had it come out of the bite mark that first time? What the hell did this mean?

Make it make sense!

I wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans, struggling to focus on the pages before me.

It wanted me. It hunted me. But what the hell was it?

Isaac joined me, his knee bumping mine. “You okay?”

“Yeah. I guess.”

“Want to take a break? Go for a walk or something.”
