He caught him, picked him up, and began carrying him.

Poe gasped.

What the hell?

The Marine was carrying him as if he weighed nothing.

“Put me down!” he shouted, as he saw him carrying him toward the pond. “Don’t do it!”

It looked like he was getting dropped in. Thank God it wasn’t deep around the edges.

Why?

Because he couldn’t swim.

Gamble was laughing. The fact that he had picked up Poe, and he was carrying him…

His strength was back.

He was back to being the man he was before he was decimated.

And Poe was the reason.

Now, what to do with him?

“What do you think, Rufus?” he asked the dog who was following and barking. “Was it intentional?”

The dog kept barking, and Poe kept fighting to get free, but it was half-hearted. He was laughing too hard to fight more than half-assed.

Truth be told, this might be the only time in his life, he’d feel this close to the man.

Again.

“You wouldn’t,” he said, trying not to piss himself laughing.

Poe could feel the strength in Gamble’s body, and how big his shoulders were. Yep, he was enjoying being in this man’s arms.

God.

Way too much.

At the dock, he stared into Poe’s eyes, and made up his mind. At first, he was just going to drop him in at the shore. Only, now, Gamble had an erection, and needed to cool down.

Fast.

They were both going into the drink.

Together.

“Then you don’t know me well enough, Doctor,” he said, and then ran down the dock and leapt into the air, taking them into the water.

Oh, this was bad, and the doctor knew it.

Poe had just enough time to hold his breath and not protest as they went into the pond. It was take a breath or warn Gamble that he couldn’t swim.

As they hit, they began sinking. Poe was in thick rubber boots, and they filled with water.

The light above got dimmer.
