With.
Hot.
Sex.
By some miracle, Gamble got the plug back in the tub with his toes, and turned the water back on so they could warm up and get clean.
The whole time, Poe leaned against him, spent.
“Let’s just wash up, Baby, and I’ll get you to bed so you can rest.”
There was one reason too. Gamble had searching to do for that crypto key. He couldn’t rest yet.
The clock was ticking, and they were running out of time.
Sleepily, Poe just nodded, and Gamble took care of him. He washed his body, and got him ready. When it was time to get out of the tub, Poe stood, and Gamble dried him off. Then, he scooped him up, and carried him to their bed.
Pulling back the blankets, he tucked him in. As he did, Poe was already almost asleep.
He mumbled something that sounded like‘I love you’, or‘I have you’. So he was assuming it was the former.
In that case…
“I love you too. I’ll be right back. Rufus will keep you company,” he said, as the dog rested his head on Poe’s prone leg.
Gamble dried off, and pulled his clothes back on. He watched to make sure Poe was asleep, and when he was out cold, he turned off the lights.
Heading out of their shared room, he went to the master suite not far away.
And did a deeper search than earlier. Before, he scratched the surface. Now, he pretty much invaded the dead people’s privacy.
It took him an hour, and during that time, he found absolutely nothing.
Oh, he found some of the couple’s kink.
Cash tucked away.
But nothing that screamed‘I’m a crypto code’.
This was frustrating as hell since there were only so many locations where it could possibly be.
Sitting there, Gamble looked around, and he swore he heard footsteps outside of the door.
Heading toward it, he peeked outside, and there was nothing there.
Not a soul was around.
That was…weird.
Slowly moving down the stairs, he moved around the kitchen, checking to make sure all of the doors were locked, and the place was closed up.
He did the same with the front door, and any other access to the building. Gamble knew that if they were going to be in danger, it would be during the night.
Call it a hunch.
Gamble checked the security cameras on the gate, and made sure everything was safely locked up until morning when the staff would return.
Then, and only then, he headed back up to bed.
