Another Office

Von was not amused by anything as of late.

In fact, he was irritated, and stirred up that someone had sicced a band of mercenaries on him. He’d been so close to finding the key, and now…

He was hiding.

Yeah, he wasn’t entertained, and he certainly wasn’t enjoying the fact that he had to answer to the others atThe BlackStone Groupthat the crypto key was still not in his possession.

In fact, he was pissed.

Not only had he lost the doctor, his chance to find the money, and his building inNew Orleans, but he was losing his patience.

And one thing plagued him.

The footlocker.

The doctor had mentioned it, and he didn’t think he was lying. He’d wanted to save the Marine his men had been wailing on, so he’d be honest.

But where was it?

So far, nothing was going his way.

His mercenaries failed, and they dropped the ball on this one.

BIG.

TIME.

To make that even worse,MANYof his military contracts were suddenly canceled. Apparently, the US government hadgotten wind of his mess, and now, they were going to pull funding.

Oh, he was having a very bad week.

All of it was because of a meddling do-gooder pilot who didn’t know when to mind his business.

This was going to be a problem.

Von really enjoyed being rich.

In fact, he preferred it. Only, now, that might be coming to an end if he didn’t get his hands on that code before whoever was chasing him did.

Who would dare call out the dogs on him?

Oh, well, he’d find out.

Couldn’t a guy just make some money? Capitalism had been the American way.

Even if it was on the backs of poor soldiers who were nothing more than collateral damage in The BlackStone’s Group getting wealthier…

Oh, well.

More would be born, and more would die. There would always be poor people looking to get out of the dire situation they were in.

It was the cycle of life.
