Finn held out his hand, and his old friend took it.

“I swear I won’t say shit, Laddie. On our friendship. I promise.”

That meant something between them, and Graham was honest.

“Callen and Chris are worried about the safety of their family most of the time. This place was going to legitimately be a bed and breakfast, but both men fell in love with it. They said it has to do with the name and the birds. I don’t know what the hell that means, but…”

Finn sipped his coffee.

He understood what it was like to work to keep his family safe. He had seven sisters, and his parents were elderly.

What wouldn’t he do to keep them safe?

“Listen, I’m a fan of being a good man. I understand wanting to protect your family. I won’t compromise that, but I do have to be here when they are touching the remains. I have a job, too, and while I’d rather beANYWHEREelse, this is my duty.”

Graham got it.

They were either doing this the nice way, or the shitty way.

“I’ve talked to Callen this morning. I’m picking up the two people who are coming here to start working later today. I believe they are going to get to work tomorrow. They are losing half a day flying into Scotland.”

That worked for him.

That gave him today to get all of his work cleared off of his desk.

“I hope you don’t mind me showing up.”

Graham didn’t mind.

“Not at all. You can keep me company. It’s getting boring here,” he stated. “The ghosts are not doing anything but annoying the workers,” he admitted.

His cup paused halfway to his mouth as soon as he heard that.

“Pardon? Ghosts?”

Graham laughed.

Oh, he figured that would get his attention. If the man was going to hang out here, he’d see for himself.

“The place is lousy with them. Ceit, Duncan, and the mystery ghost. You don’t see them, but you can absolutely hear them. They make themselves known if given the chance.”

He laughed.

And said one thing.

“Bollocks.”

Oh, this man was clueless if he believed that this place wasn’t haunted. There had been so many generations of Granndach here that of course, some of them would have remained after they died here.

The dead were a part of life.

Plus, he’d seen Ceit with his own eyes. She was theONLYone not raising hell here. For all he knew, she was playing hide-and-seek with the other two ghosties. Granted, that was the last thing they all needed.

“Are you having a laugh at my expense?” he asked, amused.

As if timed perfectly, a teacup that was on a shelf fell, and Graham caught it out of the corner of his eye, and held out his hand, catching it.

It landed perfectly in his palm. The whole time, he waited to see how the man would handle it. Not everyone liked a ghost-filled castle.
