He wasn’t due to pick up Gabby and Anthony until a little later this evening when they arrived on a jet the same way Gryphen and Ian had.

Then, he knew that Doctor Anthony Magnus wanted to go out tonight to take in the sights and get a beer at the local pub.

Well, that was doable.

After all, they were, technically, tourists.

As Graham was tidying up after…no one, he heard a knock on the kitchen door.

When he glanced through the glass window, he laughed.

Oh, this was unexpected.

It was about to get interesting.

It appeared that he had company now.

Opening the door, he welcomed the man standing there.

“Detective Inspector McKnight, to what do I owe this pleasure?” he asked amused.

Only, the other man didn’t look nearly as entertained. He looked annoyed.

At his question, the man came in, and took off his coat to hang on the hooks by the door.

“I’m sorry to be bothering you this morning, Lad, but I was told to show up here.”

Wait.

What?

Graham lifted a brow, and now, he was absolutely curious. He knew who wouldn’t call the local cops to have them nose around the place.

The Blackhawks.

“Told? What do you mean by that, Finn?” he asked. “Can I ask what for? It’s odd that the town would have a problem with the castle.”

Mentally, Graham was running a checklist to see if he’d maybe forgotten to do something to keep the remodel on the up and up.

There was no way.

He was on top of it.

That was his job to stand in for Callen and Chris during this remodel.

“All of the permits are in order, and I reassure you that the new owners are being very respectful of the codes. I can’t imagine what the problem is, Finn. I handle all the paperwork myself.”

He pointed toward the island.

They had to talk, and he wasn’t thrilled to be here either. This was a waste of his time.

A huge one.

“Can I bother ya for some coffee, Lad? It may be spring, but it’s damp and dank outside. You get a chill out there until the sun does its job.”

Yeah, he was aware.

That was why he was going to go out to cut some firewood later that morning to keep the castle nice and toasty warm.
