“You hurt him, you traumatized him,” Tatum snarls, and Felix’s lips set in a thin line.
“I’m sorry.”
“I felt the weight of that mask for the briefest moment. I understand enough to forgive you. Besides, I know I would do the same for Silver without question.”
“What now?” Wylder asks, and I gulp, glancing at Belladora.
“Will I ever have magic again?” I ask, and she smiles, but the sad look in her eyes confirms the answer I know I’ve been avoiding.
“No. You died, Polaris. Really died. Restoring your memories is a blessing that the curse couldn’t take, but it took your powers. Since Lincoln remained anchored to this world, he didn’t face the same consequences from his sacrifice.”
I nod, saddened, but there’s no gaping hole in my chest like I anticipated.
“But I can see my markings. If I’m merely a mortal, I shouldn’t be able to,” I breathe, clutching at my neck.
“That’s not something I can even offer you the answer to. You’re the only person to defy the curse, but you did so with a coven who you are mated and devoted to. Maybe it’s a symbol of your love, despite the odds, despite the loss of your magic,” Belladora offers, and I sink my teeth into my bottom lip as I nod.
“So, what do we do now?” Blaze asks, reiterating Wylder’s question, and Belladora shrugs, grabbing Felix’s hand as she tugs him toward the rest of her coven, her men.
“Now, we go and see a world where the blood kin curse doesn’t exist, my sister’s greed doesn’t ruin lives, and where factions can live as one.”
EPILOGUE
POLARIS
“Look at them. Who knew there would be something in the world that could make them be in the same place at the same time?” Beatrice gleams, clapping her hands together excitedly.
“Willingly, we should add,” Kristy adds, beaming with her best friend as she looks at Lincoln and Blaze standing beside one another.
“Mother,” Blaze gripes, and she turns to him with a pointed look, struggling to hide the smile teasing her lips.
“Blaze,” she chides in return, earning an eye roll from the vampire in question.
“You’re being ridiculous,” Lincoln insists, siding with Blaze; another rarity.
“Ridiculous would be shutting this theme park down for the whole day so you guys could have the best time,” Kristy retorts, the signage to the theme park in question shimmering behind her, and she’s right. The only people present on the other side of the entryway are the staff. Not another soul is going to be here today.
“Yeah, you’re definitely ridiculous,” Beatrice says with a snicker, and Minnie groans.
“Can we stop saying ridiculous?”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Blaze adds with an eye roll, making Beatrice scoff.
“Don’t get involved, Blaze. We’re having fun,” she insists, and he shakes his head.
“It’s not fun.”
“It’s ri—never mind,” Lincoln mutters, cutting himself off.
Kristy grins in delight, linking arms with her friend as she waves for us to enter. “Go. Have fun. It’s not every day you save the entire supernatural world from a centuries-old curse. We’ll meet you tonight for the fireworks. Are your parents still coming, Polaris?” she asks, and I nod.
“Yeah.” It feels weird, and my nerves are definitely eating me up, but after everything has come to light, it’s unfair of me to forgive others and not them. I make no promises, but I’m willing to try.
“Hey, Polaris.”
I grin as Ben appears, relaxed and grinning from ear to ear. I cock a brow at him.
“No Bianca?” I clarify, not even a little disappointed to not see her, and he shakes his head.
