“You came over here to go to sleep, so please don’t stop yourself on my account. Good night, Rennix.” She extended some of her cover to me and I accepted.
I chortled. “Don’t be touching on me in my sleep either.”
She laughed. “I wouldn’t dream of it.”
“And don’t leave me in here. If you go into the bedroom, wake me up, man.”
“Go to sleep.”
I chuckled but closed my eyes and allowed rest to enter my being. I was aware of how tired I was, but not as much until I was already out. That rest hit like bad dope because I swear I heard the TV and probably Caya’s giggle before everything went dark. It hit like no rest I had ever gotten.
The constant vibrating of my phone and Caya nudging me made my eyes pop open. Everything was dark, except the distant rising sun outside her curtain protected window.
“Get your phone.” Her wide awake tone alerted me.
It was then that I realized my phone was ringing as well as vibrating. I dug on the side of me and saw it was my twin.
At the same time I answered, I watched her walk out of the living room into the kitchen. “Yeah,” I answered, wiping sleep from my eyes, trying to gather my bearings.
“Open the door, bitch.”
“I ain’t at home. Open that shit yourself.”
“No shit, like I ain’t got your location. I’m tryna figure out when you started having sleepovers.”
“Reminisce, I’m grown as fuck and damn sure don’t need you tracking me like I’m your fucking kid.”
He laughed. “Nah, yeen my kid, but you act like it. Are you about to open the door or what?”
I was about to respond, but this fool rang the doorbell. Not once but twice.
“Uhh, Rennix…” Caya started as she shuffled from the kitchen to the door in the far front area of her house. Before I could stop her or respond, she opened the door.
“Damn, you fine,” I heard Reminisce say before he hung up on me.
I couldn’t get on my feet fast enough, especially when I heard her laugh at something he said.
“I told you to open the door.” My brother looked from me to Caya with a big, dumb ass smirk on his face.
“Cay, this is my intrusive ass twin, Reminisce,” I grumbled, stepping in front of her and mugging his ass.
“She already knows who I am. I wasn’t just about to walk in her spot without her knowing me. The fuck I look like? You?” His eyes traveled around her living room before they landed back on her. “It’s nice here.”
“Duh,” I responded, taking a seat on the sofa to look through the notifications on my phone. Apparently I had quite a few.
The whole time she laughed and I didn’t like that shit at all. I was jealous, some shit I wasn’t used to when it came to anybody.
The ringing of her phone in the distance had Caya leaving me and my brother in the living room. I mugged the shit out of him, and of course he laughed. Reminisce knew how to get on my nerves like no other.
“You like her, huh? Lil cute ass.”
“Why’d you show up over here?” I purposely didn’t answer his question but instead asked one of my own.
“’Cause I had to see what was up with you. You don’t do sleepovers. But you've been over here twice in the last week during sleeping hours. I had to check and make sure my baby brother was cool.”
I laughed at his aggy ass. “Bitch, you’re only a minute or two earlier. I ain’t your baby brother. Your baby brother is walkingaround here oblivious to the fact that you’re his brother because you and G wanna wait until after his fight.”
He grimaced. “He has a fight coming up. Hell nah we ain’t about to fuck up his concentration with this.”
