“But you’re seconds from asking to kiss me, right?”
He laughed. “The fuck I’ma ask for?”
I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt. This moment right here was challenging my willpower. This was why I had been actively avoiding him, because something about this man made my willpower obsolete.
Then, to make matters worse, seconds before a response exited my lips, his hand found my neck and he pulled my neck into his space before leaning in and licking my lips. Then he kissed my lips sloppily, like the entire connection was premeditated. When he finished assaulting my lips, he pulled back, pecked them, then let me go.
What the fuck was that?
“Yup, them motherfuckers are soft. Now go your ass to sleep.”
Chapter 2
Rennix
Did I wanna fuck Caya? Hell yeah, but I shocked myself when I stayed after her honesty. Did that shit make my dick hard and make me want her more?Hell fucking yeah!I couldn’t do it though, because nothing in me could guarantee anything she needed past the one night I wanted to pleasure her body. I respected her though and that was something I wasn’t used to having for any woman. The next morning, when I woke up, I grabbed her phone and put my number in it just before calling myself so I’d have her number. Why I did that, I didn’t know, especially because I knew what she was on. We weren’t on the same timing, yet I still truly wanted to be something to her. For the last two days I had been trying to get this woman out of my mind, but it wasn’t working because here I was, sitting across from my sister thinking about her.
The sound of a glass hitting the table gripped my attention, forcing thoughts of Caya to the back of my head, bringing my thoughts to my sister.
“So, you think Indiri is also our brother?” Jade asked, reminding me we were at a wine tasting. I let her drag me out tothis because she did that pouting shit and said none of her girls could go with her.
“I mean that’s what your old drunk ass daddy said. I’on feel like he had any reason to lie.” I shrugged.
She nodded. “That’s so wild.”
“Nah, it ain’t. People do fucked up shit all the time. His drunk ass ain’t no different.” My brother always said I had no faith in people and he was right. People, as in most of the rotting skin bags in this world, were unreliable and wastes of time. If you had low expectations for people, then you never got let down.
She nodded, then reached for the next glass of wine in her tasting. “Grab your Pinot.”
I shook my head, then reached for the wine. I watched her do some swooshing around shit with the cup before taking it to her lips. Earlier, when I asked her why she was doing it, she gave me some long drawn out explanation that I tuned out by the second sentence. Jade was longwinded and would talk your ears out of service if you let her. That wasn’t a bad thing, but the fact that I spent the night at the club last night and didn’t get much sleep paired with this dry ass wine and her period-less sentences would have me somewhere knocked out in the corner.
I grabbed the wine glass and put it to my lips before turning it all the way up and taking it to the head. I was over this sipping shit. They only put a sip in the fucking glass anyway, what the fuck was I supposed to do? Sip the sip? Yeah, that wasn’t happening.
“Rennix,” She shrieked, looking around to see if anyone else had seen me.
“Man, what are you looking around for? Fuck these people.”
She shook her head. “I cannot believe you just did that.”
I laughed at her astonishment. “Did what? Drank the damn wine?”
“You’re a mess.”
I wound up spending most of my day with my sister before deciding to finally go home. What pissed me off was that I knew I wouldn’t sleep as well as I had that night at Caya’s spot. I didn’t know if it was her bed or the warmth of her body less than a few inches away. Shit was weird because I ain’t never felt comfortable enough to sleep next to no woman. That just wasn’t me.
I was on my way to sleep after a long ass shower when I got the slight urge to hit shorty up, just like I did the day after I left her spot. The difference was, this time I hit her up and last time I fell through the club.
She answered the FaceTime on the first ring, looking like she had either just got home or she hadn’t left the crib. Her maroon-brownish colored hair was in a ponytail atop her head and she wasn’t wearing a lick of makeup. Shit was fucking beautiful.
“How did you get my number? And why are you calling me from the bed?”
“’Cause I ain’t been to sleep.”
“And why not?” she asked, staring at the screen.
“Because I wasn’t next to you.” I shot my shot like a motherfucker and the fact that she giggled let me know that shit landed. Leave it to her to try and play it off though.
“Tell me anything. You only slept next to me one time and we didn’t even do anything.”
