A guard stepped up and grabbed at the dress but I wrapped my arms around myself and stepped away.

“No—what is this place?” I said, growing slowly more panicked as each second passed. Cooper smirked and watchedthe man try again to drag the garment over my head. I tore away from them again. Cooper chuckled and came over with something in his hands. Before I could move, he snapped a collar identical to the others around my neck. He palmed a device in his hand and then I felt my body go rigid with pain as electricity shot through me. I collapsed onto the ground, unable to scream or move. The pain was excruciating but once he stopped the pain disappeared. I got to my hands and knees, gasping for air.

The man moved forward while I was still trying to catch my breath and before I could grab at the clothing, he yanked it over my head. I struggled to get to my feet but Cooper pressed the button again and I slammed back into the ground. He finally stopped and I choked out a gasp and lay on the ground while he looked at me with a smug look.

“It’s pretty nifty right? Your handler will get the remote so I suggest you remove any rebellious notions from your head right now.” He tossed the remote to a guard and disappeared through another door. I struggled to my feet, trying to hug my arms around myself as I was pushed over to join the other women. Most of them were staring brokenly at the floor.

“What’s happening?” I whispered to one of them.

“The auction,” she said in the same hopeless tone as the blond.

“What does that mean?”

“You’ll get auctioned off to the highest bidder for five days.”

“What?!” I said it so loudly the guards turned towards me but I ignored them.

“They can choose what activities they do with you.” She wouldn’t meet my eye but that was okay because I wasn’t seeing clearly anymore. This couldn’t be happening—this wasn’t real. I felt the room spin and I knew I was going to be sick. I turned and threw up, retching until I was shivering from panic and disgust. The guards simply stared at me dispassionately. Then I heard a voice through the door.

“Gentlemen, gentlemen welcome! Welcome to the Warren!” It was Cooper as he addressed a sizable crowd from the sound of the applause he was getting. I was going to be sick again. “Tonight we will auction off twenty beautiful bunnies for you to spend the next five days with. I know you have all taken a look at the offerings and read the few rules and guidelines we have here. We have plenty of activities to keep you occupied but of course feel free to get creative. There is also a special new bunny today who I’m sure you’ll all be interested in. Shall we get started?”

The women were then pulled through the door one by one and they didn’t come back. Soon I was the only one left in the room and I heard Cooper’s voice again.

“This bunny is the one I’ve been eager to bring out. She’s new so she’ll probably be shy. Don’t let that fool you—she’s a wild one. She hasn’t been tamed yet so I’m counting on one of you to take the job seriously eh?” The crowd laughed. “Introducing bunny number 178.” The guards shoved me through the door and out into a literal nightmare. Cooper stood alone on a round stage with lights focused so strongly on the center, I couldn’t see the crowd at all. The guards pushed me closer to Cooper who grabbed my arm.

“Beautiful isn’t she?” Cooper spun me around forcefully, leaving me little room to try and cover myself even if I thought it would work. I winced when he ran a hand over my breast.

“So soft—shall we start the bidding at one million?”

I must have gasped because he looked at me with a smirk. A few lights went on in the audience, telling him the bid was accepted. Over the next few minutes he drove the bids higher.

“Do I hear two million? Two million?”

He wrapped me up in his arms, pulling me back against his chest and his hand slid down my stomach. I struggled and hissedat him but his arms were like steel. His fingers found their way between my legs and I felt them caress me, teasing the crowd.

“Two million for all this gents!”

The bids buzzed in and I felt my face heat as I trembled in his arms. This was barbaric. What he was doing reached deep into the depths of human depravity. But it was obviously a lucrative business and one that catered to rich men. Rich men with money who could use it to avoid getting into trouble.

“Not one for the spotlight bunny?” he whispered in my ear. He dipped his fingers inside me and I struggled against him, cringing at the intrusion. “Wet already? You dirty little thing.”

“She’s ready for one of you!” he said loudly with a laugh as he removed his fingers to show the crowd. He kicked the back of my legs so I fell to my knees and held me loosely by the hair. I knelt there seething with anger.

“Do I hear three million? Three?”

The bids continued to climb until finally they stalled out at 5.5 million dollars. I must have looked pale because Cooper’s grip tightened in my hair and he dragged me to my feet.

“You throw up now and I’ll have you beaten,” he hissed in my ear.

“5.5 million! Going once, going twice, SOLD!”

He shoved me towards a different door where the guards grabbed my arms and escorted me out. Anger warred with disgust and fear for whatever sort of hell I found myself in as we walked down yet another hallway and I realized I got the reference—this place really was a maze underground.

A Warren for Cooper’s rabbits.

We were nothing but a commodity to him.
