“He said all the couples reported that after realizing they were fated–or shortly after–the omegas said they went into some kind of heat. Sometimes it wasn’t a full blown heat, sorta a half heat. They weren’t due for their heats so many times it didn’t register with them that’s what was happening.”
“Did that happen to you?” Mason whispered, “You kept saying you were hot, and your skin was on fire. But I just thought it was the…sex. Really great sex, but just sex.”
“I’m not honestly sure,” I admitted. “Things got a bit muddled, but it could have just been lust.”
“Okay, so you may or may not have had some sort of heat that night.”
“Right. Most of the couples he interviewed also reported that the omegas became pregnant during that time. Regardless of birth control. It’s like it failed for all of them.”
“Mmmm,” Mason hummed, shifting beneath me. His cock slipped out of my hole, and wetness spread across my ass cheeks from the slick and cum that escaped. My hole felt empty and aching now. I wanted to make him hard again, just so he could fill me back up. “So basically, we’re stuck with each other and we might be having a baby?”
“Yes,” I whispered, “I mean, we can try to not be stuck with each other. I’m just not sure it will work.”
“Is that what you want, Ronen?” Mason’s voice was quiet in the barn, the only sounds the shuffling of the animals' hooves on the stone floor, and the pounding of my heart in my ears. “If it is, just tell me now. I’ll do my best to leave you alone. If I need to, I can move back to Colorado. Put some distance between us.”
Staring up into his unsure eyes, wrapped tight in his arms, the scent of him–of us–surrounding us, I slowly shook my head. “I don’t think I want that.”
“What do you want?”
He was going to make me say it, damn him.
“I think I want you. Or at least I think we should get to know each other, before we decide to walk away.” My teeth scraped along my bottom lip, and I looked away from him. “If you want it, too.”
“I do want it,” he nuzzled the skin just below my ear, and goosebumps raced across my skin that had nothing to do with the chill of the night air on my bare skin. “But I think for that to happen, we have to stop doing this,” he waved an arm over ournaked bodies, “every time we are alone together. Let me take you out on a real date. Let’s do this the right way.”
“I’m not great at dating,” I confessed, nibbling my lip again.
“Too bad,” Mason scooped me into his arms, managing to get to his feet with me cradled against his chest. “I’m taking you on a date, and all our clothes are staying on. We will eat, and talk, and do the things that normal people do when they are getting to know each other.”
“That sounds dreadful,” I told him, not joking.
Mason tossed his head back, laughing. Then he kissed me on my nose, helped me back into my clothes, and walked me towards the door.
Glimpsing something hanging on a hook next to the barn door, I came to an abrupt stop. Eyes wide, I whispered, “Mason, is that a duster?”
“What?” he asked, clearly confused, then followed my finger where I pointed at the long coat.
“Yes, why?”
Nibbling my lip, I asked, “Would you wear it sometime for me?”
Giving me a weird look, he shrugged. “I guess I can.”
“Just the coat,” I stressed, feeling like I needed to clarify for him what I wanted. “With your boots. And hat.”
Mason’s brows met his hairline. “So, you want me naked, except for my boots, hat, and duster?”
“That is correct.”
“You are a very strange man, Ronen Sinclair,” he declared as he walked me to my bike. “I’ll call you tomorrow and we can each check our calendars to see what nights we have free.”
“Can’t we just…keep getting naked and get to know each other that way?”
“Absolutely not,” he told me, and I did my best not to pout.
“Fine,” I huffed sulkily, putting on my helmet and flipping my visor up. “We’ll do this your way. We’ll go on a…date.”
I made sure my voice held all the disgust I felt for that word.
