“What makes you think it’s ruined?” Wyatt asks.
She gives him a look like he’s an idiot and I bite the inside of my cheek to keep myself from smiling. “Did you miss the part where my husband was fucking another woman?”
“Nope,” I answer. “And we’re sorry about that. Clearly, that man is blind. I can’t think of any reason why his mind would stray to another when he has you.”
She looks at me and licks her lips. “Had. And, even if he didn’t cheat on me, his dick was not going anywhere near me again. Been there, done that, would not recommend it to an enemy.”
My eyes widen slightly as I snort out a laugh. Who is this woman? And how can I get to know her better?
“You’ve already paid right?” I ask her.
She nods her head. “For two weeks.”
“Then stay. Enjoy the ranch. Use this time to think, to get away from whatever you’re going through. Don’t let that asshole take anything else away from you.”
“You know what. You're right. Fuck him and his small dick. I’m gonna stay here, and have the time of my fucking life. I’m the one who wanted to come here anyway. I’m not gonna let him ruin my vacation.”
I love the fire in this woman.
“That's the spirit,” Wyatt says with a grin.
“Come on. Let us get you all checked in,” I tell her.
“Oh.” She blinks and looks around. “Ah, a guy named Carson said he was going to. I haven’t seen him since.”
I look at Wyatt and he nods. “I’ll be right back.” Leaving Red with Wyatt, I jog over to the main house.
“Hey, Carson.” I see him standing near the house, talking to Dad.
“Yeah?”
“You supposed to be checking in a red-haired girl and her husband?”
He curses. “Shit. I was just about to bring them their keys but there was an issue with one of the trucks and I got talking to Dad.”
Perfect.
Grinning, I stride over to him. “That the key to the cabin?” I ask, nodding at the set in his hand.
“Yeah?”
“I’ll take those.” I snatch them out of his hands. “Also, it’s just going to be Red. Turns out her husband is a cheating sack of shit. She’s going to stay here alone and enjoy her vacation.”
Dad gives me a look. “Weston,” he says in a warning tone. “Don’t.”
“Don’t what?” I ask him, trying not to smile.
“I know you and your brother all too damn well, boy. She’s married.”
“Not for long, from the sounds of it.” I chuckle and my father sighs, shaking his head.
“I don’t even know why I botheranymore.”
“Same, Pops. You’re getting old. Save your breath. There is no hope for us.” I pat him on the shoulder.
“Keep your dick in your pants and do not cause any issues. Emma seems like a nice young lady. Don’t need you two corrupting her. Trust me.”
Emma. So that's the name of my future wife. It’s nice. I like it.
