"Jesus Jo, you say that like we still use Axe. I'll have you know I've upgraded to a very expensive cologne."

"Alright fancy man. Prove it.” She raises an eyebrow and plants a hand on her hip.

“You’d have to come closer to smell me, Jo.” That might be one of the strangest things I’ve ever said.

“I don’t want to smell you, Bryson Svoboda.”

“Your nipples are telling me something different.”

She lets a sexy little huff escape as she pulls her bag up to cover her chest. Dang. That backfired.

“The gentlemanly thing to do would be to give me the king bed."

"I'm not feeling very gentlemanly towards you, Jo.” Being this close to her is bringing up years worth of pining. I will not get any relief or relaxation if she’s around. Especially as I watch her face shift from disgust to lust and back again. “You can sleep downstairs.”

"Fine, the sooner I can get away from you the better.” She covers her backside as best she can with the hand not clutching her belongings to her chest as she marches out of the room.

I'll have you know, her little hand is barely covering the dark crack between her full luscious cheeks.

"Always a pleasure to watch you go, Jo." I call as she reaches the end of the hallway that leads to the kitchen. She pulls her hand off her ass and throws her middle finger in the air before she turns the corner.

The boys are going to love hearing about this. I chuckle and reach for my phone when I realize it's in the kitchen. I stuff the turkey scrap in my mouth and walk to the top of the basement stairs. As I I hear Jo's voice.

"What did I do to deserve this? And fuck why does he have to look so hot?” I preen a little because maybe I’m not so “ew” after all. “It's fine." She encourages herself. "One night down here and then tomorrow I'll drive him to the airport and can come back here for my week alone."

"Fuck that," I mumble with a scoff. I'm not leaving. I'm on the edge of burnout and if I don't reset, I'll start the season on my back foot. That could make me more susceptible to an injury or impact my linemates if I can't keep up.

Plus, she'sthe one who has been avoiding me for a decade. She's the one who refuses to answer my messages or calls. And now she thinks I'm the one who has to leave.

No way.

And, I remind myself, I was here first.
