"You never said anything."

"Well, you two were texting like your pants were on fire! I just played a huge game, I’m winding down, I want to go see my family. I’m tired!" I whisper hiss as I turn towards the window so my teammates on the bus don’t get curious.

"Jo." He reprimands, clearly uncomfortable with a slight display of female emotion.

"Fine, so, while you're right, I don't want to split the sponsorship, I don't want to be called rude or difficult or whatever else you have going through your head."

"So, that's a no to splitting it then?"

"It's weird they're splitting it between two teammates, right? I don't get it. But yeah, if EPIC is offering a sponsorship I want the whole thing."

“Okay, let me see what I can do.” He says and then hangs up without a goodbye.

AL

He's coming to drinks but not dinner. He's got a team event at the children's hospital. Some movie night thing he said.

Jesus, I forgot about Bryson.

But wait.

I re-read the last two words and my stomach churns.

He said?

She talked to him?

I know we hate him and blah blah blah but I have to keep up appearances if you want the true intel. So yes, I spoke to him for a minute.

And I hugged him hello.

Traitor.

I’m happily married to Todd with two beautiful kids, I was doing it for you.

All I’ll say is he’s got muscles Todd can only dream about.

And he smelled like an expensive candle.

Has he gotten any taller?

LOL. Low blow sis.

I'll meet you at dinner.

Chapter 3

Bryson

“My balls are melting down my leg.”

“Normallythey’resosoftand bouncy.” Crosby whispers to Duncan as we walk up to the makeshift stage for today’s statue unveiling.

“Like a puppy’s.” Duncan agrees. “Today it’s like he stuck his finger in a light socket.”

I know they’re talking about me. About my hair, I didn't take the time to style it when I rolled out of bed late.
